As long as Smartest won't get "The Smartphones"... lol. My favorite division name is 6 in Piece of Cake: "The Overclocked Androids"

My favorite division name is 6 in Piece of Cake: "The Overclocked Androids" I agree that's a great name. And thanks for taking my suggestion on lowering the tier 1 requirements. I think it will help the newer players.

Hm it shows last hour you scoring 3rd in Div 4: nasty_liar 167 Triviabiz 10 22.45 978 http://www.funtrivia.com/hourly2/lasthour.cfm?viewdiv=4Note that it IS possible to score well and drop a division (and the opposite). You scoring well vs everyone would have increased the likelihood of you increasing a division... BUT, the algorithm also has a predictive element where it re-balances divisions based on who it predicts will play the next hour. So, if it has reason to believe that division 5 and 6 were going to be more crowded than normal, and if you were on the borderline of 4 and 5, it definitely could have bumped you down a division. Just keep in mind that the division system tries to balance two things: the number of players playing in each division AND their relative abilities.

Yes, the score that you reference was the second hour I played.... And yes there were some amazing players in there that hour too so I was 3rd. Which supports the system somewhat. Thanks for explaining though. It’s useful to have more insight.

I've also changed easiest to exclusively "single question pool" for now, which has more reliable stats for difficulty. Since you've changed the question pool I haven't once seen the question about red squirrels being served as the Sunday roast in Britain. I sort of miss seeing that silly question.

"Oh yummmmm" ? Does this mean you have an old family recipe for roast red squirrel handed down from great-great grandma?

No, but traditional Kentucky burgoo is made with venison, squirrel, rabbit, whatever other game you catch, and maybe some chicken or duck, and pulled pork (those last being modern concessions, I presume). Unfortunately, it is grey squirrel, as no red squirrel is found in the Appalachians.

"no red squirrel is found in the Appalachians"
They are in New England, but we'd have to be very hungry to eat them. And no, they wouldn't have been part of 'red flannel hash'.

Just keep in mind that the division system tries to balance two things: the number of players playing in each division AND their relative abilities. I wonder whether the algorithm is working appropriately at the moment? Last hour, 9.30-10.30 GMT, the 4 divisions had the following number of players: Division 1 - 38 Division 2 - 32 Division 3 - 25 Division 4 - 3 I understand that the division system isn't necessarily supposed to place evenly but place by performance and if those three are the only ones that are performing to the highest division standard then I guess it works, just seems a little odd that's all. *Edit, Looking down the winners list it seems to happen quite a lot actually. Perhaps it is just as intended.
