The key is the rateable value - it's worth reading the government advice pages. Start here: https://www.gov.uk/calculate-your-business-rates and follow relevant links. You may find that if the rateable value is low enough you won't pay business rates (unless you employ someone) - it's certainly worth finding that out.

Hi Flopsy... Yes, as soon as I got home I checked the council website and discovered that I qualify for 100% rate relief. I shall be applying for that on the 1st of March!
