I should probably leave this post until tomorrow..but hey, I'm here now. Let me start by saying that I think editors do a fantastic job and am always grateful for any comment or suggestion they may make, BUT (and I am sorry for shouting) I have just been 'shouted' at by an editor telling me not to resubmit my quiz until I have rectified the plagiarism from some website I have never heard of.
I was so upset I immediately deleted the quiz I had painstakingly spent hours compiling from numerous compendiums in my collection.
Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, once you have dealt with the correction, the message from the editor is deleted so I cannot reread it. I did however try and take a look at the website I was supposed to have copied from, and I have to say I was rather shocked - it was not the sort of site I would ever normally access!
It is such a shame, because I am not now sure whether I will be able, or want, to compile more quizzes. The last thing I would do is copy from anywhere and, as you can probably gather, I am really upset

Sorry everybody, I shall probably feel differently in the morning but I had to have my say

You can read all the notes attached to your quiz (including correction notices) by clicking on 'quiz notes' after you click on the title of your quiz.

However, please note that if your quiz was taken offline and then put online in the interim, all notes will have been deleted.

No, ladymacb, fringe can't read the note anymore ... you said in your post that you'd deleted the quiz, fringe, so all the notes would have been deleted with it. Ladymacb's trick only works for quizzes that still exist.

So, since the quiz no longer exists, I can't offer to look at the website and at the quiz to see how close they really are, and if the particular editor doesn't happen to remember the quiz then we can't ask him or her about it. I will say that we editors take plagiarism very seriously. In general we don't make the accusation unless we find evidence that we feel must be incontrovertible - like an entire sentence that's the same word-for-word. So I don't know what's going on here.

You're right CellarDoor, obviously - now that it's gone I can't look at the log, or prove my point. In retrospect it was probably a silly, impulsive move but I was SO upset and angy, and having been told in no uncertain terms that I was not to resubmit until I had corrected the problem I felt there was nothing else I could do. I really had no idea what to correct or how.
I am totally behind the plagiarism code and would never violate it.
(You would not find anything relating to my quiz on the website mentioned anyway - but the address could have just been a typo or misunderstanding I guess!)

Well, I was just trying to tell the person how they could have seen the notes for future reference.

Thanks LadyM, it does work - I've just tried it out on my other quizzes. So at least I've learnt something

fringe - In the future, if you EVER get a message that you don't understand or don't agree with PLEASE hit that nice 'reply' button and talk to the editor. It does no one any good deleting quizzes and such. Like I think both you and cellar said, it may have just been a misunderstanding that could have been cleared up by talking.

Fringe- I checked your Quizzyland log and found the name of the deleted quiz. I'll ask in the Editor's Forum if anyone knows the story on your quiz.

Thanks guys for your help. It would seem to be a case of mistaken identity and I sincerely hope that the editor in question gets the original 'copycat' quiz back again so that I can be vindicated!
