These ratings use the standings from the "last month" page: http://www.funtrivia.com/tvt_lastmonth.cfmThere are ten games on that page and the raw placings are converted to a percentile for each game. So if there were exactly 25 larger teams in one specific game, the first would get 100 points, the second 96, third 92 and so on down to 4 for the last one. With 100 teams, it's 100, 99, 98, and so on. 73 teams and we get 100, 98.63, 97.26, etc. smile For small teams (which do not necessarily have all scores displayed as there are a lot of one- and two-player teams that don't make the ranks), I count only the ones actually on the list. A small simplified example - if the only ranks on the list were 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 11, 12, 18 and 24 that would be ten teams and the #11 would rank 7th of those 10, for a percentile of 40. The ten scores are added up for all teams that have at least five of the ten games with any placing, yielding the maximum 1000 per month. The ones with fewer are considered to not have participated; I won't embarrass anyone with a 0.68 out of 1000 score simply because that team had one player playing a single hourly game during the month.

Since Terry has already announced it, I will give a little more info on the new team scoring beginning September - without going into the details:
The new system will replace size-based leagues with performance-based ones. Similar to sports leagues in Europe, there will be several (four to be exact) flights with a championship division at the top and each season will end in promotions and relegations.
A league season will be one month and it will use effectively the same metric as these scores have - daily top 200 placings for the individual games and daily averages for the two main team games will determine your placing for the game and those placings will be added up to determine the overall league standing. The numbers will look different - as scoring no longer needs to take into account division sizes, the placing will be used directly and not be converted into a percentile - but they are effectively the same thing.
A few minor adjustments (number of scoring players per team, mostly) will be made on the games themselves to streamline the system, but you should not note a major change. We might also swap out one or two games (World Quiz and Who am I are my candidates - both are really specialized and additionally, the first disadvantages teams with few Gold Members while the second can create conflict of interest if a player wants to play Easy for a high raw score, e.g. for Everything, but also needs to play Hard for the team) in favor of more general, popular games (daily and hourly mix), but this has not yet finally been decided.

As such, this thread will be retired with the August standings (and a final annual and all-time total table).

I see we have 4 new hourly games added to the Team Stats on our team page. Is this incidental to the upcoming changes to the team games scoring system and won't be included in monthly stats or will they be included in the final standings?
Thanks. Came here to mention the same thing. With the TvT talk, is there any more overhaul coming?

While we’re kinda on the topic of new additions to the team page, has there been any thought to reorganizing the team home page so that the list of new badges that team members are getting, is below the team rankings? Lots of changes to come.

Andymuenz if you look closely at the fifty-fifty rankings, it is only counting intermediate and difficult scores. Thanks, CoachLamb. I hadn't checked that carefully since our team didn't have any rankings from yesterday fifty-fifty.

I, for one, would be very sad to see the World Game disappear. Being able to play it daily is well worth the price of Gold Membership alone.
