I'm just wondering what happens if there are an odd number of players in a duel topic. Some one wont have an opponent.

This question is covered in the FAQ for this game:

http://www.funtrivia.com/faq.cfm?system=6

If you are not matched up with someone by midnight FT time, you will paired with a bot player.

On the duel page there is a display along the lines of:

"You have won 179 out of 360 possible duels this month.

You have therefore won  50% of possible duels so far this month."

The value given there for the percentage seems to follow the standard rounding convention, but the badge requirement for monthly dueler (as well as the tier upgrades) requires you to hit the whole number percentage without the benefit of rounding up. Could this displayed value of the running total be adjusted to always round down to avoid any potential bonus frustration on the last day of the month? For anyone who happens to fall just short of the target (for the tier 1 example) at 49.5-49.9%, it would say they had won 50% of their duels in that display, but they would not get the badge.

I know nothing about the coding side of it, but I'm wondering if this has already been taken care of. The badge has been around long enough that if this was a problem, it would have happened by now, and if it had happened by now, we would most definitely have heard about it. I can't see players sitting quietly and not complaining about this happening to them.

I had the same thought and almost didnt post this for that very reason but I would have thought it would surely have come up by now, but it definitely still rounds up as of today. I suppose it is possible but I can't imagine Terry/Wes would only change the coding for the last day or days of the month and leave it as is for the rest. That seems overly complex.

There is a chart on the Monthly Dueler challenge page that shows the number of wins required for the badge, and for each upgrade, according to the number of days in a given month.

It seems pretty clear.

The table is not quite right, however. When I was approaching the second level on the last day, I fell one short of the number needed to get the recognition according to the chart. To my surprise at the end of the day, I did get the award. So maybe the rounding is actually working.

Huh...curiouser and curiouser.

Well clearly something is off. I admit I have either fallen well short of the mark or passed the requirement with room to spare in previous months so I haven't seen this myself either way. But the chart and, I believe the pre victory text on the challenge page both indicate you need 50.0 or better (for tier 1...and then 55.0...60.0 and so on up to 80.0 for the higher tiers) while the percentage given by the month to date tracker and maninmidohio's experience contradict this and indicate regular rounding. At least one and possibly both, items need adjusting.

flopsy, in general I think people use the challenge page charts and if accurate, they are easy enough to read, however over the course of a full month I think people don't check in every day there and, more to the point, if the convenient alternate of the running percentage "if the month ended today" shown on the duel page itself is going to be offered, it should be an accurate value given.

Heh..sorry. I don't even have a reasonable explanation for that particular missfire. With your custom avatar, I always look for that smug little diving duck to spot you. I dont know what my problem was there wink

redirect said reply to postie obviously :p

cool

I don't know how most people do it. I look at the chart, fairly regularly... at least when I think I have a shot at an upgrade. Not looking at it at all, this month tongue
