I need some help on a few questions in our local paper's quiz please.

1. The Canadian prairies are a major source of the seeds used to make this famous condiment? ketchup, HP sauce, Dijon Mustard or Cocktail Sauce

2. Licks is a chain of Toronto area eateries famous for their ...? pancakes, gelati, lollipops, or burgers (my hunch is gelati)

3. In the early 1900's Saltspring Island (B.C.) had the Northwest Coast's largest...? orchards, dairy, lamb processing facility, or veggie burger

I'm pretty sure I have the other 17 answers.

Thanks!!!

k , gonna change my Saltspring question to lamb processing
There are a lot sheep, and most of the online stuff I can find, has a lot more to say about lamb than orchards

I figured you might pop in, Jabberwock, from the other side of the Strait!! My thinking was a lamb facility too for Saltspring although I came across one site mentioning something about apples. And for the condiment question I think I've narrowed it down to HP sauce (tamarind seeds) or Dijon Mustard (mustard seeds). I don't know anything about Cocktail Sauce. So does anyone know if the prairies produce either of those seeds????

Does caraway seeds have anything to do with this?

Or "Brassica hirta"

Just had to rise to this challenge, being from Manitoba!!
Here is an excerpt from this site... www.dressings-sauces.org/mustard.html

Though mustard can be grown almost anywhere with a cold or temperate climate, most of the mustard purchased today -- including most French imports -- comes from the prairies of Canada.

Looks like Lick's is a vegetarian restaurant...

from : http://www.veg.on.ca/noframes/facts/healthy.htm

so it looks as though the answer would be burgers

Happy Canada Day!

Lick's is a burgers & ice cream franchise (not vegetarian). Their signature item is a burger made from pasteurized beef. www.lickshomeburgers.com/

Re the Saltspring Island question - I'd be tempted to go with "orchards". From what I could find, they currently have lots of lambs, but were known for their apples a hundred years ago.

Just looked at the answers to the quiz and as usual you guys were wonderful.
1- Dijon Mustard
2- Burgers
3- orchards
I didn't win because I had a couple of other incorrect answers, too bad too, the prize was a train ride and lunch at the Aerie (posh) . Thanks again for all your help, I'll try again next Canada Day.
