Here is another image from a recent weekend trip to beautiful north Devon. This is one of the two carriages of the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, the only purely water powered funicular railway in the world.
The company which runs the cliff railway was established by an Act of Parliament in 1888, work on the railway being completed in 1890 with its first operations taking place on Easter Monday of that year. Each car has a maximum capacity of forty passengers. The trip takes around three minutes to travel the 800 feet between the two towns.
