Something new today. Here's Wang Chung with "Everybody Have Fun Tonight":

https://tinyurl.com/y3y2o3js

I was going to joke about the video inducing seizures, but then I read on Wikipedia that the BBC had banned airing of this video precisely because they were worried about that very thing. C'mon, man! It ain't an 80s video without wild effects. That blonde lead singer for Wang Chung (Jack Hues) looks an awful lot like Jonathan Harris as Dr. Zachary Smith on the old "Lost in Space" show to me for some reason. My mind is wandering, I guess. I do love that video, but its effects on the human mind are unpredictable, like red kryptonite on Superman (another free association out of nowhere.)

Time for another edition of my irregularly appearing long rambles about a controversial song. Here is the first version of "Relax" by Frankie Goes To Hollywood:

https://tinyurl.com/y5o3l2st

Yeah. Nothing suggestive about that at all, right?

I first encountered this song when I went to see the Brian De Palma movie "Body Double", with Melanie Griffith and Craig Wasson, where it is featured on the movie soundtrack. Melanie Griffith is quite well-known (former wife of Antonio Banderas and Don Johnson and mother of Dakota Johnson of "Fifty Shades of Grey") and I particularly liked her in "Something Wild" (with Jeff Daniels and Ray Liotta). Craig Wasson is not so well-known, but he had a nice role in the 1981 movie "Ghost Story". Anyway, the second video version of "Relax" features a scene in the movie where it appeared featuring both Wasson and Griffith:

https://tinyurl.com/y5umhsax

Ah, those Brian De Palma movies. Just good, clean fun, like Disney.

One more thing: When you get to 100% completion of "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" (as I proudly did), your character Tommy Vercetti (voiced by Ray Liotta) gets access to the "Frankie" T-shirt, which says on it: I completed Vice City and all I got was this lousy T-shirt"

https://gta.fandom.com/wiki/Frankie_Outfit

It was called "Frankie" after Frankie Goes To Hollywood, of course, seeing as how "Relax" was such an iconic 80s song.

I return to Juice Newton for "Queen of Hearts":

Why have I strayed so far from pop here? (Besides the fact that I just happen to like Juice Newton.) Well, I have an excuse. The song appears on the soundtrack to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. (On the fake radio station K ROSE, admittedly.) The video reminds me a bit of "Westworld" for some reason.

Thanks for that, Tryst. I am really poor at music history and will readily admit I had no idea Juice Newton's version of "Queen of Hearts" was a cover. I know better now.

Today I return to Hall and Oates for "Out of Touch":
