It seems unbelievable that it is 25 years since Elvis is alleged to have died. I can't say that I was ever a fan but respect the right of people to enjoy whichever artists they want... and there must be some out there who were Elvis fans.

Say what you will, he certainly gave great pleasure to a large number of people and for that we should pay tribute.

Man, I'm only 22, but I was brought up on Elvis movies! It just seemed to be the usual Sunday afternoon thing. Go over to Nanna and Pa's after church, eat hot jams donuts and watch an Elvis movies....

...man, those were the days...

It seems impossible it has been that long. I have visited his Graceland when I lived in Memphis. It felt like they were just making a lot of money off Elvis, even after his passing.

The first song of his I ever took note was ‘I’m all shook up’. I was about 12 years old. I can remember asking my sister what an ‘amalsha cup’ was. She laughed lots as she put me right.

He was part of my young life and it's hard to think he's been dead for 25 years now.

Amalsha cup ... that is so funny.
I am really not a fan. In fact I am the anti-Elvis. Actually that would be a good FT user name for me. Me respect for Elvis starts and ends with the fact that the Beatles were such fans of the man. I cant get into his music and I certainly cant get into the whole lifestyle that goes with being an Elvis fan. Having said that, I respect the fact that he pretty much introduced rock and roll to the free world but I think that it has more to do with the fact that he was a more acceptable face than Carl Perkins and the like. Why are all the impersonators more into the lurex, rhinestone look than the leather sexy thing though? I guess its because it's easier to look like the guy when you are drowned in a sea of Tack.

Elvis was a twin, although his sibling did not live. Imagine if there had been two............from all accounts he was a kind, generous, thoughtful and caring man. The world needs more like him. My mother was a BIG fan, therefore we were raised on his tunes and lefois and I knew his albums off by heart, word for word. One of my personal favourite songs was "Hound Dog".
