The wind was howling and the rain was pouring which made this striking sculpture called 'Gallos', which means 'power' in Cornish, by sculptor Rubin Eynon perched high above the Atlantic Ocean at Tintagel Castle on the north Cornwall coast all the more enigmatic.
People ask "Is this King Arthur?" The answer is "He is whoever you want him to be." However, as Tintagel Castle (Kastel Dintagel) is the supposed site of the conception of the legendary King, I think it would be safe to assume that this was the intention of both the sculptor and English Heritage, the organisation that manages the site on behalf of the owner, the Duchy of Cornwall.
