Our strike rate 70.5% was the second highest for the season, even with one game which was picked by no-one: Liverpool lost at home to Atletico Madrid. We all picked a home win for this game, except for LeoDaVinci: he collected a bonus point for picking a draw.

This round started on Tuesday 10th March and was completed on Saturday 8th August, which is two days short of five months.

N-Bomb, the defending titleholder, has again extended his margin out front: it's now out to 6 points. He's still on track to become the first to win back-to-back titles (no-one has retained their title since the first UEFA comp back in 2003-04). Behind him its a four-way tie for second place.

It may have taken five months, but we've finally completed the two legs of the KO Round. UEFA have decided that there will be no more home & away two-leg ties. The remainder of the comp will be played in Lisbon, Portugal. The quarters & semis will be straight KO games, like the FIFA World Cup, which means Round 16 of the tipping comp has been cancelled (second leg of quarters).

We have enough advance picks to retain/continue with a R17 & R18 (the semis), with slight modifications to R18. The comp will end with R19 on Sunday 23rd August.

A round of upsets saw three of the eight picks yield zero correct. The four winners scored a mere 4/8 and the wooden spoon was nearly a golden duck at 1/8.

Manchester City have been eliminated. That result knocked out another 3 advance picks for the winner. We now have just four live picks remaining for the winner (all Bayern Munich): N-Bomb, LeoDaVinci, srini701 and gtho4.

N-Bomb, the defending titleholder, retained his 6 pt lead out front and, with just three rounds left (max. of 24 pts), he's still on track to become the first to win back-to-back titles (no-one has retained their title since the first UEFA comp back in 2003-04).

Behind him the four-way tie for second place has disappeared. It's now a two-way tie between paper_aero and Howie72. From there we have a 2 pt gap to the rest of the field.

The next round is mid-week, UEFA (17) & (18) Tuesday 18th Aug, followed by the final next weekend on Sunday 23rd August. UEFA have announced that the group stage of the 20-21 comp will start a month later than usual, on Tuesday 22nd October.

Last year N-Bomb won his first-ever gold medal in the Champions League tipping comp. This year he became the the first-ever player to win back-to-back titles, since the first UEFA CL comp some 16 yrs ago, way back in 2003-04.

LeoDaVinci finished the season with a perfect picks of 8/8. This was the 11th perfect pick over the last 16 yrs. With that effort he pushed Howie72 off the podium to collect the silver medal. This was his 3rd podium finish. The first two were bronze, ten years ago, in 2009 and 2010. Last year he finished the season in last place.

Behind him it was a three-way dead-heat for 3rd .. paper_aero won bronze on a countback +6 vs. +3 for Howie72 and gtho4.

ozzz2002 and wwe84 collected a wooden spoon each with picks of 1/8. They collected six each for the season, to win the wooden spoon race. All of us scored a win, collected a spoon and scored a bonus point bar one .. gtho4 failed to score a bonus point. Not one.

As was the case last year, no-one reached double digits for bonus pts and, as was the case last year, paper_aero once again finished with the best countback figures.

Had PSG won they would've become
the 23rd team to win the title. It was
their first-ever appearance in the final.
They became the 41st team to play in
the final.

This was Bayern Munich's 6th CL win.
They're now equal third on the all-time
list behind Real Madrid (13 wins) and
AC Milan (7). This year's ECL was the
65th edition; and 37 of them have been
won by five teams: R Madrid, AC Milan,
Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

The defending titleholder was N-Bomb
(Dizart won silver and Howie72 was
third for the bronze).

Bayern Munich became the first team to win the CL title with a 100% winning record (they won 11 of 11 games). The previous best was Real Madrid 60 years ago, when they won 6 of 7 games to lift the trophy in 1960 (emulated by Internazionale in 1964 & Ajax in 1973). Back then there were three KO rounds, home and away, plus a final, and was only open to the champions of Europe's domestic leagues. It was expanded in 1992 to group stages and the admission of multiple entries from some countries.

This was the 17th edition of the ECL comp. N-Bomb is the first to retain his or her title. Two players have won this on three occasions: doomed (2004, 2006 and 2008) and Dizart (2012, 2014 and 2018).
