It occurred to me that a number of the forum members have been here around 20 years, some have just had their 20t anniversary (like Sypher) and some will have been here 20 years by the end of the year.

Some, like Ren, were here before the forums started so perhaps she will tell us what it was like when she first came.

And that's twenty internet years, which are a lot longer than normal years. How many other websites have been going that long?

Congrats, all!

I didn't frequent this side for about two years or so after I started, but been doing tipping comps almost 15 years now. February will be 19 years since I came...and I've moved once since then...as I was in Texas when I joined.

'Your Webmaster is Terry Ford, a hoopy
frood who really knows where his towel is.' !!! Lol!
Thanks to the "Hoopy Frood",George and Sue and everyone for some happy memories . Wow I cant believe the time has gone so fast.
I always knew it was a wonderful website. Of course that's why it has lasted so long.
The forums were great fun as we had pretend adventures going on. Who can forget the notorious cruise round the world, and the feuds between Gunslinger and co? How come people had so much more time to contribute then?
Here's to another 20!

I am guessing because there was little else online, and even on this site, very few quizzes or games to take up time, not even quiz writing. No social media, no mobile phones for the masses.

I'm a relative newcomer. I joined up while living in France and teaching English and translating. I needed random trivia to dictate to people who needed to up their phone skills. They used to get hung up with every single word written down perfectly. So I wanted funny stuff like how many rat hairs in a pound of spaghetti.
I found this site and it was history. Back in 2001.

Thanks. Funny how the app that's the biggest in the world for languages and free that shall not be named, uses the same format of random sentences and detractors.
Well folks, you saw it begin here, Absurd French.

I joined the "quiz side" way back in February 2003, and can still remember browsing the forums as a guest, joining the "forum side" when we got Internet at home back in January 2004, so been "Funtrivia-ing" for 16 years :-D I know I don't post in the forums as regularly as I used to do but have made some wonderful friends here. Used to love the chain games with "The Great Gatsby". Here's to another 20 years xx

Yesterday was my 20th anniversary here. My forums number is 178, and I think only a couple people have a lower number. Terry and Sypher, and ren *would* have a lower number if she hadn't had a profile glitch. I can't think of anyone else. I can't remember Dad's number, but I think it's low double digits.

Hi All

It's been awhile since I visited here, life gets in the way sometimes. 20 years but seems like yesterday. I registered 30 Sept 1999 and I am #40 on the list. It's great to see that this site is still going. I'll try and get back into the swing of things.

I was just 40 when I joined here, on my first day of home internet. In a few months just before my 20th anniversary here in February I'm turning 60. Activity has spread far and wide beyond here since then but this is still the most civilised site around, with the most interesting people. It's united like minds around the world.

I know I don't post on the forum side as often as I used to do, but it is 16 years today since I joined the "forum side" of Funtrivia (joining the quizzing side the year before!). I've made some wonderful friends here, and it holds a special place in my heart :-) xxx

Indeed you do Jane. I still remember meeting up with you in Jersey that day, it was lovely to spend time with you and your family, and to see the little princes!

#32 on the members list but IU was here way before 30th Sep 1999, I think that was the date when Terry redone the members database as there are quite of few of us who appear to have registered on that date.

Over the 20 years, I have met quite a few of the members here whilst I have visited foreign soils (including Jersey), some great friendships have been formed and a support network when it needs to be.

This site is more than just a trivia site otherwise why would we come back everyday to check on things. I admit I don't venture out of the Tipping forums as much as I used to but that is due to real life commitments taking up so much time....back in the day life was simpler and a work/life balance was achievable, now I work pretty much 24/7 but I do love my music and DJing (so I will not complain)

I still have my Funtrivia Mug that Terry gave me when he visited London and I use it everyday in the office (as we have gone paperless including vending cups).

May this site continue to grow and thrive and here's looking forward to another 20 years (bloody hell...I'll be as old as Sue then....)

You rude man! smile We love you Joe. I remember you as being a real gentleman, checking on me by phone to ensure that I got back to my hotel safely, then showing great concern when I was so seriously ill in hospital that I was airlifted to London.
