You need to complete the final chapter to get the badgelet at all.

Your tier will be the number of chapters out of seven you finished. You can complete the chapters in order (which will give you tier 7 immediately) or claim with a lower number of chapters and then upgrade later

I enjoyed this immensely, and loved playing it with my teamies. Some have much better eyesight than I which was kinda helpful too.

Wish I could persuade the rest of my team members to take the hints in our team thread and play; some seem to think that's kinda cheating.

Incidentally, a certain author must have choked on his cornflakes when I played his (the final) quiz BEFORE setting out on the challenge, and I suggested that an error I'd found might have been something to do with the Halloween task! Seems very funny in retrospect!

Thanks Wesley and Terry for such an imaginative challenge.

The invasion is over and your badges should soon be restored to their former glory.

In case anyone wants to know how exactly each task worked:

Herding Cats - You needed to complete ten "cats" quizzes with a score of 40% or better, but this was actually not restricted to Animals. Cats in Entertainment, the musical Cats and even Cat Stevens all worked as well!

Clean Sweep - Five perfect scores in a row on your latest five quiz plays were what it took to get this one.

Crossfire - This one was a bit sneaky since on-site search couldn't help here: You needed to complete any one crossword that had "fire" in the title. Easy mode was allowed and having the "fire" as part of a word did count.

Ghosts of Games Past: This one was kind of easy as there was only one "past" game that was still playable: Play TvT with a score of 1031 or better.

Lend a Hand: In some Wicca traditions, Samhain (Halloween) has an "out with the old, in with the new" vibe, so it was quite fitting to follow up the TvT task with one that asked you to participate (with any score) in all the scoring games for your league. The GM game was not required, but you had to have all the tick marks active to claim.

The Evil Twin: This was the Twin Challenge, based on either 1031 or 3110. You could claim this task while your score was exactly one of these two values. The latter was probably not that difficult to get since it had a 0 at the end.

Into the Vault: Each of the six completion messages had a digit hidden in the associated image. (If you struggled with the thread and needles one: The two needles formed a "1".) Those combined to give 399116. Entering that number into the vault brought up a quiz written by the community on which you needed to score 13/20 or better to claim the badgelet and win the game.

Now that we have cleared this up, I would like to know your opinion on this kind of community challenge. Is this something you might want to see more often? Would it be something exciting if we put it into the run-up to a new game release or an extension to an existing mechanic?

I for one loved the format. It made for great community feeling and made the whole experience a lot of fun.

The TvT game page mentions that it will be discontinued "this Sunday" when the Halloween game ends. The Sunday isn't dated. Was November 3rd in mind or some other Sunday?

The Halloween game (which involved TvT) was closed during the day on Monday. Presumably TvT was shut down at the same time.

The TvT game is still active so I don't think it has been shut down. And we still don't know how Team Ponts will be calculated.

The Halloween game is shut down but the "A howling wind whips around..." message still comes up after playing quizzes.

I would love to see more community games/challenges. The community angle of this years Halloween challenge really gave the whole thing an extra buzz.

It's just that time of year.

I have said it before... I would love to see a game like this more often.

This year it was especially good, the greater community aspect (sometimes you don't have enough backup in a team), the emphasis that this is not (only) a race of who is first, the reference to what is currently going on in FT. All that made it a totally fun experience. Thanks to all who contributed!

This challenge was a ton of fun. Well done!

Probably one of the coolest parts of this was it took a certain number of people to solve the chapter before the next was revealed but it also allowed anyone to still solve it. I think having to wait definitely increased the likelihood that someone wanted to help give a clue. Probably my least favorite part was not being able to see the pictures with the hidden numbers more than once. If you didn't get it or were like me and had a few screenshots that didn't have the full picture the only choice it gave me was to ask another player what number was on it. I would have preferred to do the chapter over again than have to ask.

I really enjoyed getting to know so many people on this site. That was probably my favorite part. I even was able to help give clues 3 editors so that was nice to give back a tiny bit to those who give so much to us.

I think you have found the new format for Halloween challenges in the future for sure. As incredible as it was I would worry about doing site challenges like this too often. I would worry it might lose some of its magic. Plus it probably is a ton of work to put it together. So I would think maybe two to 4 times a year would be solid. Maybe have a "four seasons" mini?

Anyway, Halloween 2019 has been the most fun badge so far for me. Great job.

Don't worry about those images repeating in that way - they, along with the "vault" code were the special 2019 mechanic around which the game was built and they were very intentionally made hard to get a hold of to encourage and require clue exchanging. It was meant for most players not to come up with a full set on their own when they went for the final part.

Distinguishing ones from sevens proved my biggest challenge. I don't write the number one like that, but a bit of trial and error resolved it for me!

There were a few players who didn't seem to grasp the difference between 'hint' and 'giving away the answer', but Evil Twin was very quick to deal with spoilers. And seemed to have far too much fun in the process...

I'm completely with BigTriviaDawg. It was very satisfactory to have to work together on the riddles, but the vault code was far too hard to find without resorting to spoilers.

Jan, the intent of the vault code was that multiple players would work together.

Otherwise the whole tiered badge would not make sense since you'd need to have solved all other tasks to get the code and everyone would inevitably have been tier 7.
