''Either you've typed the name incorrectly, or the player is no longer on the site.'' I did type the name correctly and i have seen other users profiles that are no longer on the site but they are still there for me to read, why is that?

If you can see a player's profile, then they are still officially on the site, even if they haven't logged in for several years. If you correctly type in a name and you get a 'cannot be found' message, then their profile is no longer on the site... at all.

WOW! Amazing, and can you tell me how to quote things so they show up like you do? i cannot get them to. To get a previous message shown as a quote, don't just type your answer, click on the quote button at the bottom of the post. You will then be taken to the full reply screen, which has that bit shown as a quote. You can also do that in your own post by selecting the text and clicking the quotation marks. Then if you want to see what it will look like, click Preview Post - you can edit further if you want before hitting submit.

There i did it, thanks, as admins... do you have the power to see users profiles that are not on the site anymore?

It doesn't matter what the admins can see, WordGirlFan, because even if we could see that information we wouldn't share it with you - or any other player. I told you that when you asked about something else. We keep the information about individuals as being confidential; it doesn't matter if they left the site of their own free will or were banned for breaking the rules, it's not something we talk about. I am sorry flopsymopsy, i forgot! i was just wondering... can someone go by a different name to play in a tournament?

Fun Trivia didn't notify me when my Gold membership was due to expire - until today, when it had already expired. I realised last night it was overdue, but when I went to pay:
It said on the renewal section that if we don't wish to pay by Paypal, we have the choice of paying direct by credit card. However, when I clicked on that section, it just took me straight back to to paying by Paypal anyhow - and I got a message basically saying too bad so sad, I still have to use Paypal.
Paypal wants too much of my private information, which is odd when I just want to pay by credit card - which already has the necessary information. It wants my street address, my home phone number, my full name, etc etc etc. I'm surprised it didn't ask what I had for breakfast.
It also asks for my mobile number. I don't have a mobile phone, as I don't need one.
Why can I no longer pay my membership direct? Could you advise please?

Eeek!
Thanks, Mira - looks like PayPal it is then. I've been a Gold member too long to give it up.
I appreciate your advice.

I've been using PayPal for almost 20 years and I've never received a message from them saying they were hacked and I've never heard that they were.

I appreciate your advice. Now that I’m not answering at a ridiculous hour of the night, I use a credit card that has only a $500 limit on it for PayPal. That credit card is also from a bank that I don’t have any other accounts with. I’ve refused all attempts to raise the limit on the card over the years. I called the company and explained that card is for internet purchases only. If it or any website I use it on is compromised at least I won’t lose a lot of money. I had the company put a note in my file to never raise the limit and why. Maybe this kind of arrangement would work for you.

In the Author's Kitchen, I was credited twice on 17 Dec 20 for making Kimbap giving me 401 recipe credits from a maximum of 400. Please could the double credit be adjusted before the other '400' authors go frantically looking for an extra recipe? Thanks.

Terry:
I think most of the changes you've made have had their intended effect. The site looks cleaner and easier to use. I do think, though, that there is one change that you may want to reconsider. That's rating the quizzes. Moving the ratings up higher and putting in the gray buttons has actually made it harder to see. I couldn't find them on several quizzes, before I just found them now. Maybe you could colorize the buttons, or put the buttons at the bottom where they are more visible? Thanks for considering this. When I play I always rate the quizzes (the first time I may play a quiz). And I don't want to give the authors no feedback. Terrie

Thank you, Terry! It's much easier to see with the colors on the buttons!
