Quite right! The whole system is still quite new, and I forgot about that. Can't hurt to do both though, I don't think.

Thanks SpanishLiz, I'll do that the next time a correction notice rolls in - and I have no doubt one will.

I did have James Stewart as the original answer. It's been changed somewhere along the line. It's a good quiz question - but not suitable as a single one because of the issue with his name.

Terry, the Heroes page does not have a Top 165 for yesterday's scores. Would you kindly include one so that we can see where we've placed in relation to other players.
Many thanks.

I was not aware match quizzes counted as HTML quizzes in terms of the Busy Bee challenge. Please clarify.

Also, Terry, could you add an "All" button on the "last game played" pages.
Thank you!

Now that Quick Quizzes can be upgraded, would it be possible to put a checkmark on the homepage next to Quick Quiz when the max or 75 is reached each day. I find myself doing extras without realizing.

Thank you!

The 'try here' link on Daily Game challenge page is broken.

Re my ongoing problem with a question on James Stewart being taken from one of my quizzes and used as a single question elsewhere, the problem is now sorted out.

Whee, let's pop the champers! A toast to Ponycargirl for an innovative solution!

I'd find it helpful to know what the solution was, in case I ever need to use it. A DM will work if you don't want to post here, for some reason.

Changing it to James OR Jimmy didn't work because then I started getting complaints about the alternative. Ponycargirl altered the question slightly to refer to his Surname instead smile

Those correction notices were driving me nuts.

Don't know where to report this. I think it's basically not a bad question, but it is badly framed, i.e. how long is a piece of string?

It was in today's New Questions. I marked it down, but there was nowhere within the game to report it or send a correction note.

4. What is the name of a woman poet who was deeply respected for her innovative changes in the poetic line?
H.D.
Hilda Morley
Gertrude Stein
Marianne Moore
Your answer: Marianne Moore
The correct answer was Hilda Morley

Morley (1916-1998) was born in Baku, corresponded with the famous William Butler Yeats and H.D. She taught at Black Mountain College even though she felt the atmosphere was not good for women writing. She has a talent for stretching her lines of poetry out to correspond to the length of her thinking.
-----

I'm not disputing the answer, but certainly Marianne Moore (and possibly the other two, also) was a highly respected poet, with an original and perceptive style of writing. Morley's style may be hinted at in the question, but it could have been framed in a more specific way.

In the New Question Game the option "I see an error" appears beside each question. Even if you don't tick that whilst playing (to save time), on the screen where you rate the questions as "good" and so on, there's a place just above those choices to report an error. A box to type in appears when you indicate an error.

Using this option is really the only way that we have to make changes to these questions, as we can't find them otherwise.

While working on improving my standing in the Expert Game, I've noticed some of the category names are duplicated. It would be nice if some categories were renamed so that people have a good idea of which category is coming up in the Expert Game.

Here are the duplicates I'm aware of:
- Cats (Animals) and (Humanities - the musical). Suggested fix: rename the Humanities category to use 'Cats' (with quotes) or Cats Musical.
- Death Becomes Them (Celebrities) and (People). Suggested fix: rename the Celebrities one to "Celebrity Deaths", similar to "Celebrity Birthdays" or "Celebrity Notoriety".
- French (History) and (World - the language). Suggested fix: rename the History cat to "French History".
- German (History) and (World - the language). Suggested fix: rename the History cat to "German History".
- Harry Potter (For Children - the books?) and (Movies). Suggested fix: rename the For Children category to "Harry Potter Books" (similar to "Star Wars Books" vs. "Star Wars"), or rename the Movies category to "Harry Potter Movies" (because the books came first).
- Lyrics Mixture (Humanities) and (Music). Suggested fix: add "Musicals" or "Music" to the beginning of the appropriate category.
- Monty Python (Entertainment) and (Movies). Suggested fix: add "Movies" to the end of the Movies category.
- Musicals Mixture (Humanities) and (Movies). Suggested fix: change the second to "Musical Movies" or "Movie Musicals".

Doing this would make it clear to the players which category is coming up and in profiles, which ones we've already won. (Even better would be to have a little indicator for Gold Members showing whether we're an Expert or a Champion winner for that category on the front page next to the game, similar to the one that shows whether or not we've played the game.)

Where would you actually need that? The reason I am asking is that we avoid renaming categories in the actual quiz category tree because it would cause stale links in search engines and could cause other link issues as well.

The game screen itself does show the root category, so you'd know which one it is before you play. Is there a particular location (upcoming, change the future, winners, categories won) where adding the root category to the subcategory name would be important?

Alternatively, I could imagine having a display name just for Expert (which could be set in the same utility used for configuring the categories), but that might be a significantly higher coding effort as it would have to be added to the database and then the reference changed on all relevant pages - so if it's only one page where it's really useful, I'd rather just add the root category display on that one page.

I've noticed there are at least 3 pages which show the Expert games without specifying the root category:
1. the list "Coming Up" available for those who have the level perk "Expert Vision"
2. the list of categories one could replace using the level perk "Change the Future"
3. the list of expert wins listed in "My Profile/ Expert (available to all players, regardless of level).

In all three pages it would come in handy, and in my personal opinion it would be most useful in the second instance. In the third instance one could find out the root category by clicking on th subcategory.

For me it would be most useful in the "Coming Up" list because when trying to do the daily challenge to get a higher score in Who's the Expert than another player (assigned in the challenge) you can only count the first four plays. For example, I'm good at musicals but not at other music lyrics so if "Lyrics" will be the category in five hours it would help to know whether to wait for that category or not.

I agree with JanIQ: those are the three places where it's ambiguous. The places where I would find some indication of the top category most useful is in the "Upcoming Topics" list or at the top of the Change the Future page, because then I can make plans on whether to be near a keyboard for a certain category. Neither of these places, unfortunately, shows the category. (It shows the top category when you pick the subject to change it to, but it doesn't show the top category in the list of the topics for the next 6 hours.)

Also specifying the top categories in the Expert tab of the profile (maybe sort the expert wins by top category!) would be nice but it is not high priority since as JanIQ said, it can be determined by clicking through.

Might be time to get rid of the old Team vs Team link on the team page header.

I click on it at least twice a day. tongue

I seem to have an issue with the Team Player badge. It requires Team game participation (“ Requires 30 plays of Team Heroes or Team vs Team games in the last 30 days”), and Team Board participation. I have achieved the Board requirements, but the game requirements seem stuck at 29, despite the fact that I play Heroes each day, so this should be at 30 if I am not mistaken. I wondered if something happened when the VS game disappeared? Not a major issue, but wondering just the same. Thanks.

I just accidentally clicked on the New Question Game link after playing it this morning.

It used to give a "Not yet! You have already played today" message.

Now it leads to this page.

https://www.funtrivia.com/today/playtour...name=DireWolf74

Which looks like an all text and links version of the home page.

When I clicked on that link the first time it took me to the New Questions game; after I played the game and tried the link again it took me to the text version of the home page.

A wee problem that needs to be considered.
The 100 points awarded for the acceptance of a single question is added to the daily score and not the overall score as it id done for the points awarded for a quiz.
As a result it messes up attempts to upgrade "Three Keys".

Is that awarded at the end of the FunTrivia day? During the roll over?

That would be a problem for sure. Never know when a question will be accepted.

I traded out my incomplete difficult challenge today and received this one in its place...

Score 12 or better in 280 seconds in an Obscurity hourly game.

I had already played an Obscurity game and bettered that score but it did not register retroactively. Can you please check the coding on that. I'm sure it's worked in the past when I've purchased a new challenge so one would think the same would apply to swapping out a challenge.

Thanks!
