7 from making it you could have let it go to 30 new winners at least well thanks for nothing. Yes, I really don't understand why it was shut down if there weren't 30 new winners yet.

Yes, I really don't understand why it was shut down if there weren't 30 new winners yet. The rules were changed quite some time ago to say that the game stopped when there were either 30 new winners or 100 people reached immortal in normal mode. The latter condition was met on Saturday, so we've had at least five additional sets since then.

"Thanks, Terry (even if you did it while I was in the middle of playing). Glad to hear you are OK. When someone disappears for a few days, it's easy to get worried about them given the current situation." Thanks, I'm fine. A little crazy here given I've got the kids at home / homeschooling etc, but otherwise staying mostly sane I'll be getting back to adding some new badges / challenges Wes and I had planned before all this went down over the next couple of weeks. Hope all are staying safe and sane.

Do you think it makes you look superior to put people down like that?

The times I had played the Global Challenge (which has never been every time) and paid attention to the results, there were 30 new Immortals before it ended. Thanks for pointing this out to me with kindness.

I just don't understand why he kept the game going and then shut it down on Tuesday why not Friday a few new players would have made to level 10 including myself Because the required threshold was met. If we keep extending it arbitrarily, then there's no point in closing it at all.

It's not a matter of Terry 'letting' or 'keeping' the game continue. He has to be around to stop it at the appropriate time so if he's busy or unavailable for whatever reason the game will keep running until he can manually end it. Comments implying that there is some sort of favouritism going on are uncalled for. The game lasts long enough as it is and there has to be a cut off point. The thirtieth new player could be in position 200 or even lower for all I know or will be in years to come.

Honestly, I posted what I did as concisely as I did because I wanted to give a clear answer to why we weren't going to extend it. I didn't want to get personal or act 'holier than thou' so to speak. I don't play GC (and haven't since 2012) partly because I'm not good at it.
Continuously extending the challenge diminishes the value of the rewards for said challenge. If you would like to hear this from someone who is higher or lower in whatever conceived status, that's fine too. Sorry you don't like the answer. I wish you luck on your next playthrough.
GC is not meant to be easy and not all players are going to get first place. If they did, we would just hand the badges out when new users make their accounts; they'd just be getting them anyways.

Can't think of a nice way end of subject. If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all. I didn't say that. I grew up hearing it and I think this goes back over a hundred years so don't blame me either for that. I joined on December 31, 2011. I don't think I even became Immortal until 2016 or 2017. I didn't think I could even stay up to date with a game every day for that length of time, but eventually I tried it and I didn't make it the first time, like most people don't. But I did get to div 9. I also knew that if I was more consistent and played every day that I could probably make div 10 by the second try and I actually did make it the second time. But it took years for me to get to the level of being willing to attempt it and having the skills. You just joined in 2014. People come through here all the time who have been here for a couple years or something and feel the demands of a badge are too hard and want them to make it a little bit easier for them. Yet other people here it did take 10 years, 15 years or more to win something. But because someone came here last Thursday and they don't like that they're not going to be able to get their instant gratification and win their 300th badge by Sunday night they get in a huff over it? I'm sorry, it doesn't work like that. If I could make a suggestion, you have to play Brain Twists and you have to make 10 correct, every single day, if possible. Occasionally some really bizarre ones will come up like the wordwise quizzes which I happen to think are often very tenuous, at least many of the clues are very tenuous in connection with the answers. But those will end up being challenging for a lot of people and a lot of people will not get credit those days so it won't really hurt you. And if you get credit then it's even better. But when you are dealing with anagrams or word clues, you can use word tools on the web to help solve those puzzles. It may take a while but most Brain Twists are solvable. If you are already getting over 90% of your BTs at 9/10 or 10/10 then the second piece of advice I would tell you is set a timer. Set it for 120 seconds and make sure to finish within 120. If there are ones you don't get, just memorize them as best you can and then don't waste your time on them again in the future. Also, play the double star categories. A 13 in your double star category is worth a 15 in your regular category so you have a lot more room and if you do well, you will advance quite a bit faster. Just stick to this formula and then I'm pretty sure you will not be back here asking him to extend it again. I really hope you implement these suggestions because you obviously want to win this badge very much and I think if you follow them they can get you there.

Actually, I don't believe there is any advantage in the Global Challenge in getting 10 correct in the Brain Twist. As long as you have 5 or more correct the advancement is the same.

Andy, I'm not sure about the '5 or better'. I usually do pretty well at BT so I know if you get at least 8 you get full credit. But for the times that I've gotten fewer than that correct I think the points start to drop off.
