Six Nations
2020

Welcome to our first Six Nations Rugby competition.

The rules are quite simple all you have to do each weekend when the Six Nations Rugby takes place is either pick the team that will win each game, followed by the winning margin, or if you think a game might end in a draw. The point system is 5 points for each correct winning team 15 points if you predict the right margin. Then if you are a point out in either direction you get 10 points if two points out 9 points then down to 1 point if ten points out from the margin. No margin points awarded in either direction if eleven points or more out. In the event of a draw you would only get the margin points, unless of course you picked a draw in which case you would get five points for the result and the fifteen margin points, giving you twenty points for that match. So between no points and sixty points available for each weekend of matches, and there are only five weekends to pick from. So this competition is short and sweet.

So to give you an example Joe picks Wales by 15, Scotland by 6, and England by nine. Sid picks Wales by 9 Ireland by 4, and a draw for the last game. Wales won by 15, Ireland won by 14 and the last match was drawn.
Joe scores 20 + 0 + 2 =22.
Sid scores 10 + 6 + 20 =36.

In the event of a draw we have a tie breaker question which has to be answered on the first Six Nations Rugby predictions.

PS. I'll now post the fixtures and once I've done that I'll post my predictions so you'll have an idea how to enter.

Yes it's legit I asked the question why there wasn't one and said that I have been running a prediction comp in my local for the last nineteen years. So I put forward what I did and was told that there are quite a few irons in the fire but if I wanted to give it go I could. So if we have a reasonable response who knows we could do it again next year.

Can/Will we have separate tipping threads for each round? So we can come in only before the deadline for that round and post our picks?

Six Nations Rugby Tournament Table

Well I was hoping we might start our Six Nations Rugby tournament with maybe five or six people but no we have twelve so this should be a good competition, and I'd like to thank you all for taking part. So the first weekend of games has come and gone with wins for Wales, Ireland and France. For us it started with everyone predicting a Welsh win but no one was close with the margin. The second game saw one person predicted a Scottish win so gained no points and out of the remaining eleven three predicted the correct margin. They were Myself, George 95 and wwe84, so the three of us gained the maximum twenty points. Onto the French win only Myself and gtho4 predicted that result, and the two of us were the only ones to predict all three results correctly. So here is our first Six Nations Rugby Tournament Table.

So we've had a Six Nations in the dim past 2008 Howie72 won it, with srini701 & ozzz2002 finishing joint third. In 2009 ozzz2002 finished second and joint third went to paper_aero and gtho4, well done guys. So will we see ozzz2002 going one better and winning or, are gtho4, paper_aero, srini701 dark horses, or will Howie72 become the first to win two Six Nations titles? Well week two of the Six Nations Rugby Tournament saw yours truly only get one result right, and so wins the wooden spoon this week with five points. Where as Sypher is this weeks winner with thirty-five points, and gtho4 makes it six correct predictions in a row. Sypher and paper_aero both predicted the correct margin for the England match, making it that five different players have predicted the correct margin in the first two weeks. Remember that there is a week off this week so the third week of matches will be on February 22nd and 23rd.

Welcome to week three of our Six Nations Tournament, which saw everyone going for a Scottish win. However match two saw gtho4's run of correct predictions come up to an end, however there are still enough games left to equal the seven correct predictions if of course you picked England to beat Ireland on the Sunday, which means that Llynfi, Dizart and Howie72 are out of the running to do that. Srini701 was top dog this week with twenty seven points, and this was the first weekend when we did not have a correct margin. Round four of matches takes place on March the seventh, this is mover's weekend. After this weekend mathematically someone one who is sixty points behind could still win, providing they pick the opposite teams to the leader and have the correct margin in all three games. Realistically it will be down to the those within thirty points who could catch the leader. Which makes week four so important a big pick up of points can really put pressure on the front runner. Looking forward to seeing you all take part on March 7th.
