How long does it take for editors to check a quiz and how many do they check per day?

Each category is different. Each editor is different.

Some of our categories have over 100 quizzes to be edited at this very moment. Needless to say, the editors are not going to be able to carefully check over 100 quizzes today. Not if they are doing an excellent job at it, as ours do.

Some of our categories have very few quizzes to be edited. You can see how all of them might be done in a single day.

As far as time it takes to actually edit a quiz, that depends on the quiz. Did the quizmaker make a lot of errors? Is this a quizmaker that has a reputation for making such wonderful quizzes that the editors know they can expect this to be another quality one (yes, everyone, reputation does come into play in QLand - make a name for yourself as a good/bad quizmaker, and that gets remembered down the line. It's only natural.)? Is this a quiz that needs a lot of attention or hardly any at all to get it up to snuff? That factor lies almost completely with the quizmaker himself. If you want a quiz to not take long to edit, make it one without errors!

Some of our editors are on vacation (it is summer, remember?). Don't tell anyone, but I've even heard a rumor that some of them actually have outside lives besides Quizzyland!

There's a listing on the main QL page of approximately how long you can expect to wait in the particular category that you're submitting a quiz to.

Also, there's a great thread in this forum called "For Anyone Waiting For A Quiz To Go Online". It's always a good one to read occasionally when you feel frustrated that a quiz isn't going online quickly enough.

So, in answer to your questions, there is no answer! It depends on a multitude of factors - including the real lives of the editors involved. This can even change day-to-day.

snowomen,

There are many variables in place here. Some are:-

1) Category. If your quiz is in one of the busier categories such as Television, Movies, Music, etc, it could conceivably be there for a week or so before it can be looked at.

2) Subject. A quiz on a more 'obscure' subject will probably get on line faster. eg, 'Chinese Ceramics of the 14th Century' will progress through the editing process faster than a quiz on last night's episode of the Simpsons, Friends, Britney Spears, etc.

3) Quality. If your quiz is well-written, and requires minimal editing, again, it will be treated in a better light by the editing staff. Play a few quizzes in your chosen topic to get the 'feel' of what editors looks for in a good quiz. Also, check out the Quiz Creation Guidelines for your topic.

4) A reject note from an editor is NOT to be taken personally- we want the same thing as you- the best trivia site in cybercpace. If you co-operate with your editor, we will do our best to get your quiz online as soon as possible.

5) Timing. School vacation time means that there are a lot more quizzes to check.

6) Remember, editors are humans, too, and believe it or not, we do have lives to run outside of FunTrivia.

EDIT Were you reading over my shoulder, Linda? hehe
