Here's a selection of stuff sent to me about a thousand times on the email over the past week:

1. For sale in Ceske Budejovice: lovely bungalow with in-ground pool, running water, water beds, water-cooled furnace, waterfront view. For inquiries, phone Dresden 3562, after 6:00pm Hamburg 689430

2. At Holesovice railway station: Attention passengers! The ferrry from Ceske Krumlov is now arriving on track number 3!

3. Radio PRAG: It's going to be a beautiful weekend out there and good news to you boaters! All highways south and west are now navigable!

3. Massive humanitarian aid to flood-stricken Germany is now pouring in from Bohemia. Czechs are sending fridges, couches, plastic bottles, clothing, garbage cans, plastic bottles, small cars, parts of roofs and in some cases, whole homes!

4. The town of Melnik, Czech Republic, announces that it will be holding its traditional "Bobbing For Praguers" meet on August 19th, 2002. This event is being held for the first time since 1890! Get out there and have fun!

5, A message to all Sudeten Germans: Hey guys! You win! We're sending your houses back!

Ok, they're not all gems, but it's the best I could do.

What a great way to deal with it all. Just what I would expect from the ever resilient Eastern Europeans! These are funny!!

How's the situation in Prague at the moment? Everything under control or are you still having trouble with water? I haven't heard anything on the subject on our news channel so I guess it can't be too bad.

Dobrov mentioned some connection problems recently so let's not worry and send up distress signals...she should be along soon I hope.

France is having its turn, but as usual with the French, I haven't heard any jokes about it...maybe I haven't looked in the right places.

Hello hello to everyone in the Forums! Hello Bruyere and Leau and everyone! Oh I am suffering but because I am a patient person and I have a free hour, I have managed to make this old clunker in my office do what I want it to do. Prague seems to be recovering, Leau. Karlin is an unholy mess and the swindlers are out in force there. Just yesterday I read that the owner of an apartment block which had been declared safe to return to by the city had the building demolished. He wants to build office space there. Unfortunately, he told all the previous tenants that the city had condemned the building and then he demolished it with all their things still inside. He is in a world of trouble now, but I suppose he's going to be ok. People like that usually are. Kampa is still closed, but it's business as usual pretty much everywhere else. I haven't been since before school started, but my evil aunt from Toronto is going to be there on tour this week, so I'm going to meet her for lunch. She is pretty chuffed because in the evening the tour gets a gala dinner with a member of the "former royal family of Bohemia". This is pretty interesting for me because I can hardly wait to find out which family. I'm not going, of course.

I miss you all and now I'm going to go and play about a million quizzes. More later, I hope.

Good to see you made it back here!
I'm glad to hear that everybody is getting back on their feet. Too bad that some people try to take advantage of others, but I guess that's an universal thing...
Have fun with the royal family!

Glad you are still hanging in there Dobrov. I had visions of you still going to school with snorkel and flippers.

Ha! Ren! More tasteless flood humour! Actually, it snowed in the mountains last night and down on the plain here we're enduring the third day of perpetual icy drizzle, so your words may be prophetic. Golly. Makes a person think a bit...
