Does anyone know who the first female doctor was, where she went to college and when she started practicing? Any recommended references?

Volume XX V May 31, 2000 Newsletter had a useless fact on this one.

[**] Elizabeth Blackwell (February 3, 1821-May 31, 1910) received a medical degree from Geneva Medical College in Geneva, New York. She was the first woman to receive a medical degree in the United States (1849) and the first to be placed on the British Medical register (1859)!
