Question about quiz making

Why is it that I just played a quiz in the TV category, where the title of the show was spelled wrong, as well as the main character's name (they happen to be the same), but my quizzes that I submit get nit-picked to the bone? I'm not complaining, I want my quizzes to be the best they can be, but shouldn't the spelling of the show and main character be correct before being allowed online?

Yes, they should. I hope that you filled out a correction notice on the quiz that you found. If you didn't, please let us know what the title of the quiz was.
We editors do the best we can to catch errors before quizzes go online, but mistakes happen!

Hi Chippy,
I believe I noticed the quiz in question.
The reason I noticed it is that its spelling error made it stand out from the others online. This is a good thing! It means that editors are making sure that almost everything that goes online is accurate, with proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and so forth.
Once in a blue moon, however, a quiz slips by with an error or two. Though we editors are firmly devoted to maintaining the quality of this site, we are not infallible.
The editor in this case, is one of the hardest working on this site, whose use of English is impeccable. She's a very kind person, to boot.
I was just on my way to drop her a note about this particular quiz (I can't alter it myself, as I don't edit in that category). I imagine it was one of dozens that she sorted through today.
Remember, we are all volunteers, and though we have been selected partially for our language skills, we are all bound to overlook a typo once in a while. I'm sure it could happen to you as well. It must, actually, if you are getting the occasional correction note from the editors.
So please, have a bit of patience and goodwill. This is a brand new quiz, and the problem will likely be fixed before the day is through.

Thank you for the kind feedback. Like I said, I didn't mean to sound like I was complaining, it's just annoying to see that (the name being spelled wrong happened at least 4 times on that quiz) when mine get picked all apart. Again, thank you for taking the time to answer me. You editors do wonderful work, and I really admire you for it. :-)

I'm the one who edited the quiz... And it looked like the spelling was right to me (even though I should have checked even the title of the subcategory!) I guess it's one of those days when words *look* right, but aren't. I have sent the quiz back for review.
And yes, ANYTIME you see an error in a quiz - PLEASE send a correction notice. We won't know that something slipped by unless someone tells us. And remember: Editors are human too. We make mistakes and sometimes don't catch things.

Thanks for being so understanding. We appreciate that!
And, it's another chance to say to everyone...please, please, please send a correction note when you see errors in quizzes! We really do need your feedback to help us keep the quizzes as perfect as possible. If we all work together in Quizzyland, we'll have the best trivia site in the world!
Send a correction notice for whatever errors you see - spelling, factual, or whatever. The editors DO pay attention to these, and it helps us see where the problems lie.

ladymcb29, I know it must be really hard work being an editor. The mistake on that quiz was really an easy one to make, and to not see. I know that you are a good editor. You've hacked up a few of my quizzes in the past! lol I'm just hoping now that we're all talking about the same quiz, and I didn't get the wrong person in trouble. Well, ok, not trouble, but it's been a long day and I don't have a better word. :-)

You took the words out of my mouth, Linda! We certainly appreciate players' help, especially when their attitudes are as positive as yours, Chippy. And, LadyM....I know exactly what you mean. There are days when the word 'dog' looks like it's misspelled. Take a break, for goodness sake! You are far too productive!
