It's an infringement on your freedom to make you wear shoes in the supermarket, too, but people follow that rule.

And all these people screaming about how being mandated to wear a mask or mandates to get the Covid vaccine to work in certain places or to attend schools are infringements on their "freedom" have already received multiple vaccinations in their life!

A person cannot attend any school, college, university, serve in the military, teach, or travel abroad without getting vaccinated! CNN has a new ad. First screen: Know anyone with polio? Second screen: or smallpox? Third: Vaccines work.

As for the "masks don't work" crowd, I wonder how they would feel the next time they get dental work or surgery and no one is wearing a mask that is working on them.

My tests came back negative, so yay. And since today is my son's birthday, I bought a cake and brought it over to his place, then sat on the back steps of his apartment building and we had a visit through the window - his apartment is right next to the back door of the building. I also brought him some groceries.

So that's all great. Until I get home and realize that I had gone to the library, the bakery, the butcher, and the supermarket, all with my shirt on inside out. Jeez, five days isolated at home, and I completely forget how to be a person....

Many years ago, when I was much younger, I managed to go to work wearing one navy shoe and one black shoe which weren't even of the same design. It was too far to go home and change and I was very aware of it all day. I'm not sure if anyone noticed and was too polite to say anything or whether nobody looked at my feet! I didn't even have the excuses of age (which I do now) or coronavirus!

It happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I was on the bus, heading home from the grocery store, when a lady turned to me and told me I was wearing my t-shirt inside out. I generally pay attention to these details when I get dressed to go out, but apparently that time I'd forgotten to check laugh.

I was brought up to believe that mixed colour footwear was a sign of great intelligence. My father worked at a top secret government agency with some of the UK's top scientists and while he never commented on his work he would sometimes say "my boss might have the world's biggest brain but he never knows when he's got odd socks on". So don't blame Covid but think of it as a sign. grin

We are to have a booster jab, six months after the second dose of vaccine.

They're still thinking about boosters here, probably will go for it eventually.

So, after our provincial government saying "No, no, everything is fine, we won't be going for vax passports and there's no problem here" for the last couple of months, they have finally admitted that we have the worst numbers in Canada (again) and instituted a kinda sorta vax passport system (but don't call it that!). I've now got my little card printed out and that means I can go to the pool and to yoga, and to restaurants, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Once again the provincial gov't have succeeded in angering the part of the population that is taking covid seriously and is behind reasonably tough measures to combat it, by opening up too much too soon and then waiting too long to admit that was a mistake, AND angering the part of the population that thinks it's all an overblown hoax by instituting the moderate measures they have just now come up with. I wouldn't have supported these guys in any case as I'm ideologically opposed, but I must admit I'm surprised at how incompetent they have turned out to be. Not just incompetent in real terms, but politically incompetent - they just keep shooting themselves in the foot and doing the thing that looks bad, consistently. I thought they'd be smarter than this.

Voters tend to have short memories though, and this party is historically very very popular here, so they might be able to survive it all anyway - there's no election likely for at least a year and a half.

They starter our boosters this week, over 80s, hen next week the over 70s can start having them, provided it is six months clear which means that I cannot have mine until 10th October at the earliest. I want it then so that I can be fully protected before I travel in early November.

We were issued with a nice posh printed certificate to give details of our vaccination history, plus the card with the dates of each vaccination.

Well I don't have COVID, just a really bad sinus infection. A coworker of mine went to Texas for a wedding and ended up getting Covid. Luckily he's young and vaccinated, but he still said it's awful.

It looks as if our government are going to stop testing inbound travellers soon if they have been vaccinated. They had already stopped them isolating until the test results were in, a matter of a few hours.

smirk I saw New Zealand is saying that there's no way to have zero cases anymore. I just want kids to be vaccinated. The school sent a survey to see if we would be ok vaccinating in schools - my daughter was apprehensive, but ok. My son probably won't be ok, but maybe if it's not parents with him it would be easier as he seems to listen to other adults better? And he was good getting his flu shot... But at least they're talking about the possibility to do that. Either way, they're getting the shot as soon as possible.

I would think the best outcome we can hope for in the real world is to get this disease down to the point where it is as harmful at the flu - yes there are deaths, but not to the point where it is a public health crisis. And that's going to come with vaccination - people just getting their shot so that if they do get sick, for the most part they don't get deathly ill. Kids being vaccinated has to be part of that.

Beth, if he was good with his flu shot, he'll probably be fine. I found my covid shot to be the easiest shot I've gotten in ages. (though I'm not that normal, as regular injections are part of my life and have been since childhood - I got a shot once a week from age seven until well into my teens. It stops bothering you at some point).

Bad pennies always turn up again at sometime, so here I am. Just to say that people are now being invited to have Covid booster jabs. I got mine this morning. Another Pfizer one. No ill effects so far and not even a sore arm. I don't feel suitably boosted though. I reckon I didn't walk home from the centre any faster than than I walked there. smile Had the flu jab about a month ago.

We are both still wearing masks in shops and where possible, still keeping our distance from others. Having said that, we have the family in the house now instead of them sitting on a bench under a car port. Everyone has had their injections and we all take lateral flow tests when family gatherings take place.

Nobody in the family or anyone we know has had the virus yet. Fingers crossed all the time.

Oooer, Martin! Lovely to see you.

I am very cross with our vaccine centre today. I am actually permitted to have my booster from today, except the computer booking system will not permit me to book, it wouldn't permit the call handler to book either. As I am due to visit my family in just over three weeks I want it in the next day or two.

It sounds as if that's something that will eventually be sorted out. Maybe try the system again a few hours into Monday when they will likely have been working on the difficulty for a few hours.

Reading the leaflet I got to day, I see that the name of the Pfizer vaccine has changed. It's called 'Comirnaty' now. All to do with the company being able to give the vaccine a commercial name now it has been approved by the FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration).

Sue - so frustrating! I'm waiting for this sinus infection to go away - I started the antibiotics last Tuesday but my head still feels so off. I did't want to stress my system further.

Still no word on when the kids can get theirs, but at least my county is in High transmission and no longer Substantial...

I tried to do it online again on Monday, nope, then phoned the helpline again, he guy tried and couldn't and said that I would be contacted within three days. I told him that is no good, I need the vaccination either Monday or Tuesday so he suggested that I just turn up at the vaccination centre with my ID etc and explain. He said that it couldn't hurt. I turned up and explained the situation, ie that I am going away in three weeks to a household where one person has had covid three times so I needed to be at my peak of protection before that. I got jabbed.

Glad to see people are getting their boosters. There's no word here yet about them, at all. We're still trying to get more people to have their first two.

It's only been a couple of weeks since vax proof was needed to get into places, so it will be a bit longer before we start to see the effects and have our numbers go down. It's getting cold here, though, so outdoor dining is almost over - that might prod a few more to get the jab. This weekend was Thanksgiving though, so that means in a couple weeks the numbers will go right back up again maybe.

So tired of this.

Good job/jab, Sue smile

Three different Covid vaccine companies in the U.S. Only one has been approved for the booster. The other two will hopefully get approval soon. I'm with one of the ones awaiting approval. Frustrating, as the current info says that my immunity is waning each day I am forced to wait.

Glad you have had the booster Sue. You should be fully protected by the time of the visit. I assume the booster takes a couple of weeks to become fully effective, as with the first two jabs?

That is my assumption, there was mention of three weeks with the first two so I assume that it is the same with this one.

With hindsight (what a wonderful thing) I ought to have waited until yesterday as that is when they started flu jabs and I could have been done at the same time instead of making alternative arrangements like GP or pharmacist.
