Just to throw my two cents in: there are now 100 Immortals in the Normal Mode Top 125 List.

For whatever that's worth. Hate to be a killjoy. (Actually I love it, which is why I am making this post even after others have made similar posts. In my opinion, the current GC run should be ended ASAP - but I'm prepared to soldier on if necessary.)

Are we going to go for the 30 new as the title page informs or cutting at the 100?

It's 100 total (in normal mode) or 30 new, whichever happens first.

Recent challenges hit the 100 total around 12 to 15 new immortals, which is simply caused by fewer new players participating.

The objective difficulty of reaching Immortal has remained within a relatively narrow range - with a tiny few exceptions, players had between 1450 and 1550 question sets to make it. The current challenge clocks in at 1470, so slightly but not unduly on the fast (= harder) side. This is also the corridor we are checking results against; if the numbers skew too far away (and ONLY then) from 1500 in either direction consistently, we'll adjust.

The alternative would be to nail down the challenge to exactly 1500 sets (125 days), but that would take away some of the excitement and specialness, so I don't think there's need for change.

I think it is fair the Global was not shut off after the first set today. Terry didn't get a chance to cut off the Global challenge tasks from the Daily challenges yet. Some people may have received those today and now they have a chance to complete them.

Now that it's fair that the first set yesterday wasn't the end and last night wasn't the end and we're playing the 2nd set today bringing the total to 1482 and the daily challenge component has been qualified, what're the chances it'll end tonight?

There are currently 111 players who have reached level 10 and become Immortals.
The global challenge comes to an end if this number hits 100.

Are we playing extra time?

Actually, the Global Challenge ends when it is turned off. So yes, we are playing past the 100 Players Have Reached Immortal limit. We usually do play a day or so past the stated limit.

Though not necessarily relevant this time around, I'd like to point out that if you close the challenge at half a day in, it gives a serious disadvantage to people who wait until later in the day to play the brain twist. This is fairly noteworthy now that you've added in rankings to the badge. Because of this, can you make it so that it tallies final scores after midnight tonight?

My Difficult Challenge today is "Collect at least 13367 points playing Global Challenge games today."

Kind of like my thoughts yesterday of closing it LAST NIGHT at midnight, everyone has had a chance to complete their challenges and the twist and the NEW DAY hasn't started yet.

When you know the challenge is subject to ending at any moment, change your style to play the Brain Twist as early as possible in the day so you get credit for it.

I feel more pity for those who got my Difficult Challenge today, to score an amazing number of points in the GC. I can usually manage it with both session available, but today didn't even try, knowing it was likely to close and I would feel more frustrated at being well on the way than in ignoring the task as one of those I just won't do because it is almost certain to end badly, like Crystal Ball.

IT's always the 100 before the 30.

Didn't used to be. But it has to end sometime. Everyone has an equal shot at it, how well you do while playing is entirely up to you.

Never seen it any other way.

The first one to hit 100 before 30 was #31, ending May 2018.

It's a little tricky right now while we're waiting for the current awards to be posted but you can get their by going to the My Game Results selection under your username dropdown at the top of the page (where it has Sections, Quiz, Game, Services, Team, and your Username across the top). From there, go to the Global Challenge section and click on Full List. That will take you to the Global Challenge page. If you go to the Global Stats page and scroll down to Hall of Fame, you can see the list of top final scores from all of the prior Global Challenges except the one that ended this past May. Look at the top 100 from any challenge from 2017 or earlier and you'll see fewer than 100 immortals.
