Looks like reset for League A failed again - Terry will set up a game set as soon as possible.

If you wish to play ahead - this is the planned list (we're now manually curating league A to reduce repetition):

Heroes, New, Smartest, Expert, Daily, Word, Who, GM Madness

Yeah, what I need to do is code either a 12-month or 6-month loop of selections that will rotate throughout the year.

I'm on a League C team.

When I looked earlier this morning, the list of games for the team competition included Mind Melt and Mixed Hourly, and did not include Piece of Cake or Word Wizard. But now the list is back to what it was for June (Team Heroes, Daily Game, New Qn Game, Word Wizard, Easy Hourly and Pot of Gold ).

Which is correct?

I think I do have a viable 12 month rotation now that meets the basic criteria for being good - the four GM games each appear three times, the others either six or seven times (there are 11 of those, so it won't divide equally) and nothing except Heroes is run more than twice in a row. Some months even have sort of a theme smile

We know the change over was late again yesterday but I have a query for our Team.

The system is only showing 3 Devious Demons played GMM yesterday, but I'm not on list and I played twice, how many others are not showing I query, as I know more than 3 played yesterday.

Other members of my team also complain that they play a game and there scores do not show the next day.

I even had one team member change teams because their scores were not showing and yet with the new team their scores did show, they then came back to us and again their scores don't show.

Personally I don't get to excited over issues like this but I have some on the team who are more competitive than I and keep asking why their scores don't show and from that assume their scores don't count.

Remember you have to wait quite a while to get accurate listings of who played yesterday - they are absolutely not right for most games until at least a few hours have passed. I suspect they get right around about now FT time, but it could be another hour or two. I have learned not to look until morning my time, when they have well and truly changed to reflect the actual previous day.

Same thing happened to me yesterday, on my phone it showed the new games, on my laptop it shows the same lineup of games as last month. The scoring chart for the league shows it using the June games. I don't think we have issues with scoring as others have been saying, but it would be nice to know what we are supposed to be playing to score for our teams.

Hmmm what ever shows up right now is what is "correct". There's a chance League C's original games were not updated correctly and when I gave the algorithm a kick it reset them. Sorry for any confusion!

So, another go-round of the same games? Got it. At least we maintained League C standing for once using those games!

Thanks for clarifying. Maybe we'll get different ones in August smile

In League B, the games across the Current Standings table are: Hero, Daily, New, Mix, FITB, Fift, Obscure. On the game page, the games with the icons are: Hero, Daily, Mind Melt, Mixed, Fifty, Easy, FITB, Pot of Gold.

Hmm the games page looks correctly updated to me for both divisions A and B... maybe reload the page? Or perhaps it is a cached page if you are not a GM?

Regarding the TVT games for October, I am not a Gold Member. In September I was able to play Gold Member game OBSCURITY as part of the TVT tournament. This month I am restricted from playing POT O GOLD, also a Gold Member game. Is this deliberate? It doesn't seem right that a site-wide tournament would inhibit players from participating at 100%.

In fact today I can still play Obscurity, World Quiz and Gold Member Madness, even though they're designated as Gold Member games.

Please tell us this is an oversight and that you'll enable POT O GOLD for everyone for the month.

The enabling of several GM games for all members is a gift by the site to help people through the stressful times. It was never meant to be all encompassing nor permanent and the inclusion of GM games on the roster was part of the system before we knew of COVID. However we cannot open up all features to everyone as that would mean very few if any members would still be motivated to take a GM and thus, the site would not be able to stay online due to a lack of income. The games rotation was also set up independently of the current status - it assumes that all GM games are restricted to supporters. Leagues A and B always have a GM game, C uses one in 9 of the 12 months and D just has 2 months per year with a GM game.

Remember that there is nothing unfair here - as all teams in one league get the same games, they all have the same restriction or privilege. If you wish to support your team, focus on the games you can play - or, of course, you could actually consider signing up a membership and support the upkeep and future development.

This has probably been dealt with before, but I would not know where to look. A couple of our rather busy members have asked if there is an easy way to check our team's current standing in a particular game during the current day.

While encouraging our teamies to play, we never push, and I understand that some FT players can only allocate a limited time to FT, so the request is reasonable, but only if it is already built in to the system. I would not expect any R & D hours to be devoted to this, just wondered if the facility is already there?

For the daily games, there is a section on the game homepage listed under "Today: My Team" (with My Team highlighted in blue as a link) which will show scores of all team members for that current day. An example (for The Daily Game) is:

https://www.funtrivia.com/daily/myteam.cfm

For games that are not daily games, the "My Team" link may still exist, but it will show the results of team members only for the most recently completed time period, not for the full day.

Many thanks brm, but I am referring to our team's standing within the league for a particular day. I was aware of the internal team results.

I can't find that and it would probably also be a significant burden on the system to calculate the tables on the fly. It needs to filter by league division, ensure the correct number of players per team is scored, etc., possibly over more than 20 games in the evening.

The Heroes data is not the one that will actually determine your final placing - if your team has two top scores and six low ones, you'll have 243 points, not a bad place, but for average, you might be dead last.

You can still check your teammates using the stats available and determine from there whether you want to play aggressively or cautiously, so there's enough to base a strategy on if you don't just want to give it a generic best shot.

I'd actually be against more data, it would likely lead to more sniping (see the new badge thread) and thus favor teams who can field a lot of players just before midnight FT.

Thanks, Wes. Just wanted to be able to give an answer to the curious teamies. I was certainly not suggesting that this be put in place, just wondered whether the info was available, and if so, how it could be accessed. No Worries! smile

The mix of team games for League A this month seems rather lopsided. Seven hourly games and Heroes. Last month, again, somewhat lopsided with 5 daily games, two hourlies and Heroes. Is there a possibility of resetting the selection process for team games each month to provide a better balance?

On the same subject, IIRC it was stated when the new Leagues system was established that the two games that would always be included each month would be the Heroes game and the Daily Game, the latter specifically to replace the retired TvT Game.

The selection process is actually static now. Wesley chose the selections for each month of the year. So what it is showing there is accurate.

I'm sure there is some method to Wesley's madness wink

It's a very reasonable request, and was something I wanted to add when we switched over to the new TvT system. Unfortunately the original plumbing doesn't allow for that to be calculated without extensive rewriting of stuff, so I left it out intentionally.

In a way I kind of like that it is a little opaque. That way it sort of removes the potential stress of people staring at the stats all day long trying to make "should i play this?" decisions. The way it is now you just play, and check for the results at the end.
