| This year's FA Premier League tipping competition is the 21st edition!
Liverpool are the defending champions, having won their first title in the Premier League era last season (19th in all). The promoted teams this season are Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion and Fulham, after respective top flight absences of sixteen, two and one year. They replace Bournemouth, Watford, and Norwich City
The defending titleholder here is N-Bomb, who's won five of the last seven FAPL comps (illiniman14 won in 2016 and paper_aero in 2018). Silver went to Dizart and bronze to paper_aero in a prolonged season.
The rules are simple and same as last year. A correct pick gets you a point, and an incorrect pick scores zero. Failure to lodge picks results in a default, being the wooden spoon score for that week. There's a bonus point for tippers who get a solo weekly win. Tiebreakers for medals are differential between weekly wins and wooden spoons, followed by most weekly wins and then most bonus points.
The season begins at the end of next week, on Saturday 12th September.

No analysis here...only my observations as always from the scores I collate ....6 road teams won over the opening weekend and defending champions Liverpool scraped through against the newly-promoted Leeds. None of us expected Tottenham to lose at home, while only wwe84 forecast a win for Newcastle against West Ham. But it's dg_dave who takes the early lead with a fine set of picks that earns him a sole win bonus. Howie72 and toocool4u take the first spoons of the season.

There have been NO draws in 2 rounds so far! 18 matches with outright results is incredible I think...Manchester United got their campaign off to a rocky start, losing at home, while Liverpool won at Chelsea in the first big clash of the new season. N-Bomb opens up a huge 4 point lead at the top after another solo win and the bonus point. Dizart takes his first spoon while Howie72 takes his second spoon in 3 weeks.
Manchester City were hammered at home by Leicester City, who have now scored 12 goals in 3 games. 4 teams are yet to win a game but West Brom almost got one before Chelsea managed to salvage a draw against them. Liverpool brought Arsenal back to earth with a thumping win.

It's already turning out to be a very fascinating and interesting season  After Manchester City were hammered at home last week, it was the turn of their cousins, Manchester United to take a drubbing. Tottenham hit them for a six on their home ground this week. But wait, there's more.....Liverpool let in not six, but 7 goals at home to Aston Villa! The defending champions were probably not just embarrassed, but left shell-shocked....they probably thanked their stars there were no spectators watching them in the stadium  Leicester City lost at home too, leaving Everton and Aston Villa the last of the unbeaten teams, after just 4 rounds....at the other end, 4 teams are yet to win a match...
It was all or nothing for us here in half the matches. None of us got 3 matches right...and these were the only 3 missed by gtho4, who climbs up the ladder with his solo win and the bonus point. For the 4th week in a row we have had a solo weekly winner here! At the other end, LeoDaVinci, George95 and wwe84 take their first spoons of the season, while Howie72 makes it 3 spoons in 4 rounds.

The spate of draws on return from the small international break knocked the stuffing out of most of our scores here. The two Manchester teams accounted for most of our points this round. Dizart and George95 take their first wins and move up the ladder, while wwe84 slips after a solitary correct pick.
Aston Villa continue their unbeaten start to the season winning away at Leicester City. Everton too are still unbeaten after holding Liverpool to a draw. At the other end, Burnley, Sheffield United and Fulham all scored their first points of the season as none of the bottom 7 teams lost.

Arsenal lost to Leicester City at home for the first time in 47 years....Everton lost, but are still on top of the table. Liverpool is back on top of the standings; Leicester City is just one point behind them after winning five of its first seven games in a top-flight season for the first time in its history; Arsenal won at Manchester United for the first time in 15 years; Southampton stunned Aston Villa away in a seven-goal thriller; and Fulham won its first match of the season, leaving only West Brom, Sheffield United and Burnley looking for a win this season.

Leicester City moved to the top of the standings after a third consecutive win. Liverpool managed to hold Manchester City to a draw, while Tottenham, Chelsea and Southampton all won to make it to the top 5 of the standings. 3 teams are still searching for their first win of the season.

Burnley wins for the first time this season and gets out of the relegation zone, Liverpool extend their unbeaten run at home to 64 games, a new club record, Southampton miss the chance to go to third place after being held by the Wolves, and Tottenham is on top after beating Manchester City at home.

Good weekend to travel I guess....Five road teams win, including a first win for the Wolves since 1979 at Arsenal. Tottenham drew at Chelsea and stay on top of the standings on goal difference, after Liverpool failed to beat Brighton. Sheffield United remain the only winless team after 10 rounds.
Manchester City accounted for 1/3rd of all our points this week. We scored zilch in three matches and of the remaining matches, seven of us picked 4 right for the winner's medal. That 4 was the spoon score the last 3 rounds.....Sypher, toocool4u and wwe84 win their first medals of the season, leaving only LeoDaVinci and paper_aero looking for a win.

Tottenham stay on top of the standings after beating Arsenal comfortably. Liverpool are second on goal difference. There were wins for Chelsea, the two Manchester teams and Leicester too. Everton were held in the only match of the weekend that ended in a draw. Aston Villa-Newcastle match has been postponed due to Covid (thanks, Howie).
Collectively, we had our best round of the season to date, even though our two Canadian friends were missing. srini701 missed only the draw by Everton while a bunch of us missed only 2 matches. srini701 climbs into sole second position, 4 behind the leader N-Bomb on the back of his second sole win. wwe84 takes his 4th spoon for the season.

Manchester United hammered the daylights out of Leeds (poor gtho4 )to move into third place on the ladder. Liverpool toyed around with Crystal Palace but Tottenham continued to slump, losing now to Leicester, which moved to second place as a result.Another team that continues to slide is Arsenal, which lost to Everton this time.
We handed out our 10th bonus point in 14 rounds, with Sypher taking his first for the season to move into podium position, replacing Dizart there. gtho4 takes his first spoon for the season and slides down. paper_aero and LeoDaVinci are still looking for their first wins of the season, while N-Bomb and paper_aero remain spoonless. dg_dave, missing in action for a 3rd consecutive round now, is also spoonless.

Arsenal probably surprised themselves too by beating Chelsea; Liverpool definitely surprised themselves by only drawing at home with West Brom. Manchester United's perfect away record for the season ended, but not in defeat, while Manchester City and Aston Villa won again.
Three matches stumped us all, but George95 picked 6 of the remaining 7 to make it 11 bonus points in 15 rounds here for us. 5 people take spoons this week, while dg_dave goes missing for a 4th week in a row...

Manchester United won again and has drawn level with Liverpool at the top of the ladder with a game in hand. Liverpool failed to win for the 3rd match in a row, and is only ahead on goal difference. Arsenal also made it a hattrick of wins and continues its climb up, as do Manchester City. Tottenham managed to win for the first time in 5 matches, beating Leeds, much to the chagrin of gtho4 and Llynfi here.
Last week paper_aero took his first spoon for the season. This round he takes his first win, leaving LeoDaVinci the only one without a win here. srini701 and Dizart also take the honours and trim N-Bomb's lead at the top by another point. Sypher takes the spoon for the round. dg_dave has completed a month of absence from the comp.
