The final Grand Slam of 2020 kicks off from Monday 21 September, one week after the US Open ends....yes, COVID-19 has turned the world upside down and nothing is crazy anymore...Rafael Nadal and Ashleigh Barty (if she comes) start as defending champions, while Sypher and Fifiona81 are our title holders here.

Sign up here if you'd like to hazard a guess at picking the winners in this crazy new-age tennis world smile

  • Lowest-ranked women's singles champion at Roland Garros (ranking of 54). Youngest Roland-Garros winner since 18-year-old Monica Seles in 1992. Just one of seven unseeded Roland-Garros women’s singles finalists in the Open Era, and one of two unseeded champions, along with Jelena Ostapenko (2017). First player to win the women’s singles title without dropping a set since Justine Henin in 2007.
  • Iga Swiatek's numbers can keep sounding phenomenal in a strange and unusual French Open, but let's stop there smile She wasn't on anyone's radar after landing in hot favourite Simona Halep's quarter of the draw, but the 19-year-old breezed through the tournament for just her second title in the game at any level, without losing a set!
  • 5 of the 8 quarter-finalists were unseeded players, and this took a HUGE hit on our scores. As it is, with just 8 participants, we had hit our rock bottom (lowest participation since the inaugural French Open in 2005 when only 7 took part).
  • Fifiona81 takes the gold in with a half-decent score, LeoDaVinci takes silver, and Howie72 rounds out the podium. ozzz2002 takes a golden egg, but he's not to be blamed for those wild picks....all of us were more or less in the same boat smile

  • When Terry Ford came to know that ozzz2002 and srini701 did NOT pick Rafael Nadal to win this year's French Open, he gave them both an assignment...a 1000 word apology letter to the King of Clay for doubting the great one's ability to win it all, despite picking him to reach the semis, and despite his outstanding record of never losing at the French Open once he makes it to the quarters...13 times and counting now...
  • This was Nadal's 13th French Open, 20th in all, pulling him level with a certain Swiss gentleman. It was his 100th win at the French Open and he joins a very select group of players that have hit the century mark at the same Slam. He is the second male player to claim 100 victories at a single Grand Slam event, and joins Chris Evert (101-12 at the US Open), Roger Federer (102-15 at the Australian Open, 101-13 at Wimbledon), Martina Navratilova (120-14 at Wimbledon) and Serena Williams (106-14 at the US Open) on the complete list.
  • We had a good tournament and other than the Italian teenager Jannik Sinner, we picked all the quarter-finalists among us. Fifiona81 completes a grand double for this year with a superb 12/15 right picks. Fifiona81 becomes the 3rd person to do the French Open double (LeoDaVinci did it in 2006 and ElfTwinkle in 2008). The only other person to win both the men and women's titles in the same slam in our comp here is...hehehe...srini701 at the 2007 US Open AND the 2010 Australian Open
  • Howie72 picked Schwartzmann to reach the semis and is rewarded for that pick with a silver medal. Dizart takes the bronze. wwe84 takes the spoon.
