It's my birthday this month. You know you're getting old when you completely forget and someone else has to remind you! Or when you realise that it's time for a new monthly thread already...

Speaking of botanicals... this is today's batch of tomatoes; I'll probably get one more 'basket' of fruit from this plant but then I think it will be done. I still have one cherry tomato plant which is covered in spray after spray of fruit but that may end up as chutney.

Oh leave the cherry tomatoes on the vine! Birds and squirrels love them. I have fun watching them eat mine.

Pfft! That squirrel has no chance, it's a grey, an import, vermin... and his great-grand-daddy once set up home in my loft which is not.a.good.idea. The birds can have what's left over in the hanging baskets, which isn't much.

Anyway, I like green tomato chutney and I have the cooking apples all ready to go. The fate of those tomatoes lies between me, a chopping board, and some jam jars.

It has been raining for days so here are some dripping cherry tomatoes waiting for an Indian summer.

We've just finished the last of my mum's cherry tomatoes, four plants this year. A pub just south of Bedford.

Our Persian Snowy used to lie on his back like that. Victor the tabby doesn't.

One of my favourite shots this year, Steventon End in Cambridgeshire.

Thanks DireWolf. The sky and grass were just perfect in combination. A thatched cottage on the way to Haverhill.

Here's a combined trivia question. I found this sign today in Nuneaton, normally the national old directions had an arrow at the end, but before the 50s the ones including the road number didn't. I wonder if this was the equivalent version, it's certainly old enough.

Yes but they let me go because I was armed with cider vinegar all ready to make chutney and no one wants to get sprayed with that stuff.
