The "Daily Bus Ride" is of my favorite FT games. It's fun to learn new things about all the different countries in the world.

Having completed the 80 days and 195 days badges, I would like to propose a similar mini-game. The inspiration came from the Word Wizard game and the Author's Kitchen game.

It works something like this - complete the daily Bus Ride quiz, and you get awarded with a certain number of letters. Collect enough letter to spell out country's names (could also be extended to capitals and/or country codes). If you manage to spell, say, Albania, then you will be awarded the flag of Albania, to be displayed on your page (a page similar to https://www.funtrivia.com/templates/food_creations.cfm).

Thoughts?

I like this idea! Not sure that there wold be enough room for a couple of hundreds flags on your Badgelet page, but the concept sounds fun.

I like this idea!

Or .....

We spell the names of every country on each continent. Once we finish a continent, we get a badge for the continent. Once we get all the continents, we get one of those nifty mega badges badges with the Globe (as in the planet, not the theater) on it.

The idea is charming but we should probably also change the base game a bit if we want to add a minigame - right now, the Bus Ride quizzes are fixed and, unless manually replaced, repeat every 196 days, so it's not that replayable.

A rotating or random choice between multiple quizzes per country (for those that have multiple high quality entries) would probably improve the game as a whole.

Great idea Matthew. The game gets a bit stale after a while ("You have already played this quiz") and needs something to reinvigorate it.

A regular random rotation or a daily display of multiple quizzes from which to choose would be great. I manually rotate them periodically (when a country has multiple decent quizzes), but unless a quiz proves to be really unpopular when the bus visits (that is, its ranking drops dramatically that week), I leave them in for at least a couple of cycles. If instead of a single quiz on the list for each country there were more to be selected from (currently there are nine countries for which I haven't got any second possibility listed), it could offer more variety. And if it could be flexible enough to have a different number of quizzes for each country, even better - there are a couple of countries for which we have more than three really good quizzes, and they cannot all be there at once when it is a single list.

My underlying idea was that each country gets a pool (which could be any number) of quizzes from which one is (probably randomly - would likely work better than rotations) chosen for each visit.

Sounds good to me - I like the removal of total predictability. And I would love to add an extra mini-game such as collecting letters to spell a country's name. The game doesn't seem to be attracting as many players as it once did - sometimes when one of mine is featured, it only gets around 50 plays - and the incentive to get letters could work. The Word Wizard mini-game certainly got me playing that game again, after I had given it up because the definitions can be so frustratingly not-quite-right.
