Here's the idea of it: the person ahead of you has left a word (any number of letters in it is fine as long as it is, of course, a word consisting of four letters or more). You take the last three letters in that word, shuffle them up (or leave them in the same order ... your choice) and build a new word of four letters or more, starting with them. If there comes a point where the three letters available CAN NOT be used in any order to create a new word? No harm, no foul. We'll just start over with a new word ~ but, as always, it's more fun and purposeful to keep the chain going as long as possible without that happening.
Here's an example of how it might work:
- LimerICK
- KickbALL
- AlLOW
- OwLET
(and so forth)
I'm thinking it might help if there's a vowel in that last three-letter mix, but I don't think there necessarily HAS to be one. Many words start with three consonants ~ it's more than likely that the pickings will be slimmer, is all. Proper nouns are fine to use as well. If any bugs happen or ideas for improvement crop up? We'll call this a work-in-progress, and make adjustments as we go, OK?
