it was from around the mid 60's. all I remember wwas that this "professor Jamison" died, had his body put in orbit, 100,000 years later as the earth and sun where about to explode, some android adventurers came along, put his brain in one of their bodies, andthey continued on the ways to other adventures. the androids had 6 arms like octopii, and 4 legs the could run in any direction. does anyone know the title and/or author of these books? I was waiting to see if anyone else knew about this, but my search is saying that the author was Neil R. Jones. I'm getting about five titles in the Professor Jameson series.

It rang a little tiny bell as I'd read any sf I could get my hands on, but I tended towards more social themes.

Asimov cites him as an inspiration and you can read it on this page:

No problem, I always like it myself when I realized I didn't imagine something! Plus I got it on the first hit with your info...

Anyone remember a series by a woman named Jacqueline...something or other about a world inhabited by two sorts of beings, one was called Sines? It was unusally good for its time. They could do some sort of transfer or they were telepaths.

Jacqueline Susann, ol' "Valley of the Dolls" author herself, wrote at least one SF novel. (Her first published work, in fact.) It's been so long ago that I don't remember WHAT it was about but it could be the one you're thinking of.
