Indian Premier League T20 Cricket 2021

The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League T20 cricket starts from Friday, April 9, less than 6 months after the previous one ended. This one is being played in India itself, BUT ALL MATCHES WILL BE PLAYED AT NEUTRAL VENUES. No home advantage for any team, as teams play in the bio-bubbles. This will be the last IPL with 8 teams, as IPL looks to expand to 10 teams from 2022 and all teams will be completely revamped. Mumbai Indians again start as defending champions.

LeoDaVinci won his first IPL title last season and wwe84 and srini701 (just edging out George95) were on the podium. gtho4 finished out of the podium for the first time in 5 years and he will be looking forward to getting back there!

We will have a 7 round competition here involving the 56 league matches, that's all!

Rules
- One point for a correct pick.
- Bonus point for sole picks (or 1 of 2).
- Further bonus point for picking a perfect or near perfect round (7/8, 8/8).
- Banker system grin . Bonus point for picking the right banker, minus 1 if your banker fails! ... This is what makes this comp different from any other comp here wink
- Yet another bonus for predicting match with most runs right each round (no minus for getting this wrong).
- Default if you forget to pick, wooden spoon score.
- Tiebreaker will be HoF v Spoons differential. If equal, total HoF count wins. If still equal, number of bonus points won.
- Deadline will be the start of the first game each round. The dates vary for each round, so please note the days/dates carefully.

Welcome to the 2021 Indian Premier League T20 cricket comp, just about 6 months after the last one...8 of us lined up at the gates (George95 posted picks for round 2, making it 9 this time)...LeoDaVinci starts as the defending champion.

Mumbai Indians, going for a hat-trick of titles, stumbled in their opening match, though they bounced back in the next. Perennial favourites with most Chennai Super Kings also lost their opener though they thrashed their opponents in the next. Sunrisers Hyderabad lost both their matches cry whereas Royal Challengers Bangalore won their opening 2 matches for the first time since 2016.

ozzz2002 and wwe84 take sole pick bonus points. 5 of us got our bankers right (3 of these 5 went for the same match), while 3 of us start with a -1 on this column....none of us got the lottery of the match with most runs right this round...let's see how often we get this right this year smile

Royal Challengers Bangalore continue their winning start to IPL 2021...they are 4/4. Chennai Super Kings have won 3 on the trot now after their opening loss; Mumbai Indians are blowing hot and blowing cold; Sunrisers managed to win their first match after losing their first 3, while Delhi Capitals are looking ominous.

We welcome George95 to our comp, making it 9 runners for this year...paper_aero and wwe84 take the round's honours with 6/8 picks (wow!), while LeoDaVinci take a very respectable spoon with a 50% score....but he also has the honour of picking the first bonus point for getting the match with most runs right this season...

Chennai keeps winning this season, and Hyderabad keep losing, but other teams are all yo-yoing each match....interesting times ahead as the venues change.

We had a mixed round, and everyone can still fancy their chances, except for the useless host...but there are still 4 rounds to go, so who knows....only 3 of us got our bankers right this round and none of us got the match with the most runs again. George95 forgot to lodge one pick, but he still scored back-to-back bankers and is steadily moving up...

Yes, fortunately or unfortunately, the IPL has been suspended indefinitely. 3 teams have had players or coaching staff contract covid.

Our competition too stands suspended...the last round will also not be tabulated as quite a few of us have our bankers in the last 3 matches.

Will update as the situation changes...

The IPL season was abruptly suspended after positive COVID cases started among players. Players from at least 3 teams tested positive after the IPL caravan moved to Delhi and Ahmedabad, and the BCCI had no option but to suspend the competition. It will be completed sometime later this year, either in India, or the UAE, or even in England. Our competition ends here though, as we cannot resume it whenever the IPL does smile

Only 5 matches were played in the last round and since many of us had our bankers and the pick for most runs in the last 3 matches, this round has no bankers. It's a straight forward scoring of the matches.

paper_aero wins this year's comp by a point ahead of ozzz2002 and Howie72. ozzz2002 wins the last round's honours to catch up with Howie and also pip him for the silver medal on the differential of more HoFs. Sypher and wwe84 were also having a good season and will probably feel bad for the shortened comp here...srini701 is just happy to look forward to next year's comp now wink
