The clock in the tower of Londons House Of
Parliment is called "Big Ben."
Is that the proper name or is it a nickname?

Thanks Inadvance

Big Ben is the 13.5 ton bell in the clock tower of the Houses of Parliament. It was cast at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in 1858, and popularly known as Big Ben after Sir Bejamin Hall, the First Commissioner of Works at the time.

Hope this answer your question.

Roxanne, everything in your aswer is correct but you failed to let Caerr know that the "Tower of London" is not the clock tower at the Houses of Parliament. The Tower of London is a 12th Century Fortress that stands about a mile and a half east down the Thames.
