Hi,

I'm doing the Topaz Scavenger where you have to play a list of quizzes. Here's the problem - F.T. player named "Nightmare" is coming up as no longer active and he/she has a quiz on the list. I'd like to complete the list of quizzes and get the mini badge but I'm not sure what to do since I can't go to "Nightmare's" profile and play their quiz since they aren't active.

How do I get around this and if someone already asked this question, my apologies. The site for the most part is free of these types of issues so I just want to put it out there that this is the first small snag I've come across. I'm in no way trying to criticize anyone since I realize everyone who works on the site, for the most part, are doing it as a volunteer. I really enjoy being on the site so I hope this small glitch can be easily remedied.

Thank you,

riverboatqueen

Putting nightmare in the search block on your profile produces the no longer active message, but if you use the search on the FT home page you get a listing of all of his quizzes (many, many pages worth).

Wow, thanks for that link! I'd love to know how you got there 'cause when you go to quizzes, it just takes you to pages and pages of them, although I know you can go into the Sports category and go through all the sports quizzes. What did you do to search under a specific author's quizzes?

Yes, I see how you did that. Above the search box it says "topic or title" and I tried putting the first two words of the quiz -- "Worldwide Sports" but it doesn't take you to quizzes that start with that title. I also tried searching under "1990s". I went through about 25 pages but I didn't see it yet. I guess title doesn't mean the actual title of the quiz. Probably a subject subheading or something. I'll keep on searching! lol I don't know what Worldwide could be under. Is that baseball? lol I know there's a world series but that sounds like something else. Am I wrong? The actual title in case you're wondering is "Worldwide Sports in the 1990s. If you have a thought as to what the subheading could be, I'd love to hear it. I did some searching myself. Otherwise I'll keep looking for it.

Where it says "topic or title" enter "nightmare"

It is a scavenger hunt, so I am not going to post the link to the quiz that took me about ten seconds to find. I did it by browsing the Sports category, looking for what might be the appropriate subcategory for the quiz with that title, and then diving deeper inside that category. I was lucky to guess right at each step, but even if you guess wrong you should find it. I would rather do that than scan all of Nightmare's listed quizzes!

I made search plug-in some years ago that will find quizzes by anyone, even people who are no longer active. You can find it at the Mycroft Project website. I made it because I had made the acquaintance of a lot of people of whom I grew fond before they became "no longer active", including daBomb619 and zippolover, and I wanted an easy way to find their quizzes.

It only works on Firefox and derivatives: (SeaMonkey, Waterfox, Pale Moon, Basilisk, IceWeasel, etc.). It won't work on Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Brave, Opera, MS Edge, Vivaldi, Colibri, etc.). (The front page of the site needs to be updated, but when you install the plug-in, the site will tell you that it won't work on Chromium browsers). It may yet work on MS IE, if for some reason you are still using that. smile

I actually figured out how to find it which was the whole point of the challenge. You just need to keep trying new ways to find it which was actually pretty easy! lol I finished the challenge just in case you were wondering :P I actually didn't do it the way you outlined -- I tried that but I couldn't find it. I won't say how I did it but you just need to be a little creative and think outside the box.

That's great to know. Is the Mycroft Project website www.mycroftproject.com? And thanks for the info on using Firefox and including all their derivatives! You are definitely gracious, gracious1! Let me know if that is the website -- www.mycroftproject.com. I think I actually read that on here somewhere.

Yes, that is most definitely the website. And you are quite welcome (and thank you for the compliment).

If you need any help, send me a PM.
