I think the system counts those who start the game. If they don't finish it they won't have a score but they will still be counted as a player who was beaten.

Not to start a war here, but I don't think a question about Jefferson Davis should be in the "Presidents (World)" category for the Expert game.

Don't forget that the question pool is based on the quizzes in the category. So sometimes you will see questions that seem unrelated to the topic but if you were to play the quiz they do make sense in context.

One option to avoid this is to submit a correction notice asking the editors to remove the question from the Who's the Expert? pool, but I don't know if they can remove it from that pool without removing it from all of the pools and if it is a legitimate stand alone question, it will probably stay.

Why on earth NOT? He was President of the Confederate States, which IMO qualifies him for the category mentioned.

I would consider Davis to fit that category - he's like an antipope, you wouldn't find him in the official list, but antipopes would also fit under popes for trivia purposes.
