gtho4 is the defending champion in our comp from 2019, while wwe84 and Llynfi won the 2 golf majors in our comps this year so far. Bryson DeChambeau starts as the defending champion on the course.

The Rules
1. Everyone will pick 5 golfers.

2. We may have a maximum of 2 golfers from the top 10 of world rankings as of June 14, 2021, in our fivesomes. The current top 10 is:

3. The lowest 4 total scores from each tipper’s fivesome will be added together to make the final score, and the lowest total score wins.

4. If one of your golfers fails to make the cut, his score from the first two rounds will be doubled to account for his final two rounds.
-A golfer must finish the first two rounds in order for his score to be counted towards the total

Tiebreaker
The lowest score from each tipper’s fifth golfer will serve as the tiebreaker. Should that be the same, it will go to the fourth-highest score and so on.

Jon Rahm justified the favourite tag in some style, winning his first major on the final 2 holes of the championships. He became the first U.S. Open winner to birdie the final 2 holes of the championship since Tom Watson in 1982. Rahm was in the news before the Championship after he withdrew while leading by a mile, from a tour event. He also vaults up to number 1 in the rankings after this. Louis Oosthuizen finished runners-up for the second major in a row, and he will be wondering what else he will have to do to finish first!

It turned out to be decent tournament for most of the big ranked players anyway. Rory McIlroy will be happy he was in with a chance on the last day, Dustin Johnson did well too and Brooks Koepka again finished in the top 10, as did Collin Morrikawa. Defending champion Bryson DeChambeau was in with a fighting chance till he blew it all up the last round.

We had a great tournament, picking 5 of the top 10 finishers amongst us. gtho4 defends his title from 2019 in some style, with Rahm aiding his title push a lot. srini701 finished second, 3 strokes behind, and is cursing himself for going with DeChambeau after debating him and Rahm for a long while

ozzz2002 takes the bronze a further 2 strokes behind. Those of us who picked Viktor Hovland have to be unlucky after he withdrew from the championship. As Hovland was warming up for the second round at the driving range, sand from a divot sharply struck his left eye, causing incredible pain. Hovland carried on with the pain and began his second round on Saturday, but required medical attention due to the complications caused by the sand in his left eye. It eventually forced Viktor Hovland to record the first ‘WD’ of his career.

The final Golf Major beckons soon. The same 9 of us have been playing the last 2 championships. Hoping to see more people next month at the The Open Championship – Royal St George’s – July 15-18
