We don't normally mark the anniversary of major events here but since it is now 20 years then I feel that it is fitting this year.

For me, I am not sure where the years have gone. It was one of those events where I am sure that most people will remember what they were doing when they heard the news.

My thoughts are with those, from all over the world, who lost loved ones that day.

RIP.

Strangely, I was on here, at Funtrivia and saw a post by a dear friend in Canada, now passed away, called PurpleFan. I went to chat to her and she urged me to look on TV; a plane had hit the World Trade Centre . I thought it was an accident and said how sad for the pilot, I was rather mistaken there.
I found the reading of the names yesterday very moving. My thoughts, too, are with those who suffered such dreadful loss.

I was at work when a colleague who had been out on a break rushed in. He had seen the news on a television in a shop window. I then logged into a news channel on the internet and saw everything unfolding, I saw the second plane hit, and then the collapse of the buildings. Horrific.

I also thought the reading of the names very moving, especially since those reading had lost someone dear to them, even though they might never have met.

I was at university - I always got to class early because my mom and I shared a car. Another student came in when it was just me and the professor and told us. I walked by a tv on the way to my next class and saw it... the next class was taught by a professor from Poland and my friend from Long Island and I sat in the back of the class writing notes to each other about it... She said it was Palestinians - I don't know why, but I wrote back that it was Bin Laden. After class, we both had a break and went back to look at the TVs in the student center- by then the towers had fallen. My friend started crying and who I think was a social worker took her away. I ended up calling my mom, who initially refused to come get me because she hadn't been listening to the radio and didn't know what was going on.

I worked at Old Navy and in the weeks after, we got a shipment of the flag tees - I remember the mall being empty and the only real customers we had were coming in for flag tees.
