5th : 1 pt
o The order of your picks will be used as a tiebreaker to separate any dead-heats or ties.
o If two players have identical picks x10, whoever posts first wins the tie-breaker.

We had 9 starters for the 2021 Melbourne Cup, and there was an extremely tight finish. Every position except the last two had to be separated by a tie-breaker. The three medallists managed to have the first five across the line. The winner, srini701, had the first across the line as his first pick! Howie72 won silver on a countback from N-Bomb, as he had the winner with his 7th pick vs. an 8th pick by N-Bomb. The next two spots were both near misses, having the top four finishers in their selections. The rest of us faded and finished long after the stewards had declared correct weight. The FT Triple Crown began some 18 years ago, way back in 2003, when we were all much younger and better looking, with a full head of hair and no greys. Many have tried to win all three legs (far too many to count); and all have failed. The closest was 22 crows in 2014, who won the Grand National and the Kentucky Derby, but failed to win the Melbourne Cup (she finished off the podium). This year saw srini701 become the first to win the FT Triple Crown! He did it the hard way. He won the Grand National by a point, the Kentucky Derby on a countback in a dead-heat for first, and the Melbourne Cup on a countback in a three-way dead-heat for first! Choosing today's winner with his first pick deserves a medal in itself. Who would've thought that Verry Elleegant, a mare, would carry 57kg for two miles and win .. srini701 did! This post is a little late as we had a long lunch. It was in town, started at 11:15am and finished at 5:45pm, or thereabouts (we couldn't all get down to Melbourne). We had a TV installed in a private room and 12 of us suffered through every race across Australia (plus some food and drinks). We had one of the staff run to the TAB with his electric scooter so we could get our bets on, lol Before closing: a special mention for ren33, the little old lady from Hong Kong! She hasn't played in a comp for ten or so years. I think her last picks were in the FLC comp - she's an expat Ipswich Town supporter. Hiya aunty ren!
