Once again I have Point scramble as one of my daily challenges and time after time I play quizzes in the timed mode as instructed only to get this message at the end: 'Inconsistent score. Message sent to admin. Aborting.' I would estimate that 1 in 3 quizzes ends this way, and sometimes it is at the end of a 25-question quiz. Every time it happens, it really bugs me because it is such a waste of time.

Can you try a different device to play on please? The message happens when your play would result in an impossible question score, usually greater than 100. This happens when your system timers are somehow off - the game looks at those to determine how long you took to answer a question and sees a negative time: your answer comes in with a timestamp earlier than the question.

This is normally an extremely rare incident but if your system routinely corrects its timer between question and answer, it is possible. However, it's very unusual that it should happen so often - it would indicate that your system time is fluctuating wildly and getting corrected (by significant amounts - seconds, not milliseconds) very often.

As this kind of scoring is done client side, we don't actually see what happens. All we get is a score record that includes these negative times.

You may have some success if you turn off automatic time setting on your machine while playing. That should stop it from making changes while you play. If that results in your system time quickly being very inaccurate, that points to an underlying hardware or system driver problem - the system constantly changing between a wrong internal and the correct network time, possibly from a faulty chip or battery on the motherboard.

Thank you for your explanation - way above my head! I normally play on a desktop. I do have a smartphone, but find playing quizzes on it pretty unsatisfactory. My computer is relatively new and I'm reasonably sure I had the same problem with my previous machine. All things being equal, I think I shall in future just ignore this particular challenge to avoid the problem. In this instance, avoidance seems to have more going for it than trying to solve a problem that I don't even understand.
