Any other small quality-of-life quiz playing changes that could make a big difference?

Terry, it appears that hitting Enter does not work to submit any game. Was that your intention?

Hmm, it now appears to be working. Maybe just slow reaction here. "Never mind."

Would it be possible to standardize print size of questions and answers? Some of them are so small that I've been reduced to guessing (or using a magnifying glass!)

Particularly in the Point Tree...question text is HUGE, answer choices are tiny. It would be nice not to have to have my nose against the screen to see them. Thanks!

Hmm in theory they should be already... can you show some examples that aren't the standard size of regular quizzes?

It is probably the ones with extremely long questions and/or answers, that shrink to fit onto the page.

Great feature Terry!

I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve accidentally hit the Enter button in FITB or brain twists and ruined an otherwise perfect game.

Not quiz playing, but a game playing feature I would like to see. Is it possible to show the next 2 or 3 topics in Piece of Cake and Smartest? Some people may like to step out to do grocery shopping or other errands if certain topics don't interest them. Or they may decide to stay home and do those things later to take advantage of the topics coming up that they like.

Yes, this would be very helpful. It could be made a level perk if necessary, along the lines of the Level 37 perk:
Expert Vision II - Ability to see what the topics for the next 6 hours in Whos the Expert will be.

I think that's an excellent idea, it would be very useful smile

Something else I should like to see is the ability to rate Brain Twist quizzes that appear in the Brain Twist section of the Global Challenge. At present there is no opportunity to rate them. They are always one of my favourites each day and some really are excellent. I don't want to play them the next day as they would still be in my memory but it would be nice to be able to rate them at the time of taking them.

I also like the idea of being able to rate Brain Twists at the time of playing.

That would be good for the people who write popular Brain Teasers, but not for those who write for a niche audience.

I remember reading that the subjects are chosen randomly when they reset subject to the restrictions that the two cannot be the same subject simultaneously and neither can repeat.

So if they are not generated in advance, it may not be possible.

Hopefully that was in the old days when a hamster turned the wheel.

Maybe a randomizer can be given some instructions to avoid any duplication.

Could you also do the same for Fill-Me-In? I just played a game and accidentally hit "Enter" after only seven questions, and blew the game. frown

That's something I also experience sometimes, especially when one of my cats comes "helping". smilee

Terry, could you also please extend this to the Fill Me In game? If this can be done for Brain Twister, which is not a timed game, it would be awesome when under the pressure of FMI to not submit the quiz when accidentally hitting enter too soon. Thanks.

I've noticed sunglasses have disappeared and been replaced by stars, what does this mean for the cool quizzes badge?

The Cool Quizzes badge now applies to silver, gold, and red stars.

Silver = top 20%
Gold = top 10%
Red = top 5%

(Blue stars are in the top 35%. They don't count toward Cool Quizzes AFAIK, but they are nice to have!)

I suppose that is also the rule for the Pangalactic Challenge: at least a silver star.

Technically yes, although I would pretty much consider that one retired with the author rainbow and Polymath. We now have multiple official ways to recognize authors who go the extra mile to produce variety and quality.

In the near future, 15 Categories might see upgrades which would then be based on stars earned, e.g.

T1 - have quizzes in 15 categories, thereof five with stars (any color)
T2 - have 15 categories, thereof 10 starred (in any color)
T3 - have at least a blue star in 15 categories
T4 - 15 stars, thereof at least 5 silver or better
[...]

I'd have to see exact stats to see how this could scale. T7 would definitely want a few reds (5 maybe?)

It's definitely on my list to make that one play well with the star system and add tiers to it in the process.

Five, Ten, and Fifteen Categories at the present time have basically not changed, other than instead of the number of Sunnies, they count the total number of Red, Gold, and Silver Stars. Is that right?

But that is sort of working against what I thought the idea was which was to stop making people feel bad about their quizzes. Before you would stress about getting the 20% mark to get those tiers in the Cool Quizzes badge. Now you can stress about getting that 5% mark and feel frustrated because you can't quite do it (it's a really high bar). This is what I was talking about in the Author's Lounge about the competitiveness.
