"Are there more people that randomly come across and play a quiz from Google searches and whatnot than registered members?"
Yep. About 3 times as many guests as regular players on average. It's been this way since the site was created.
I try to invite friends and acquaintances to play quizzes, and they usually do, but I have a devil of a time convincing them to create profiles so that they can rate quizzes and also have a record of play and the other benefits of membership, even just regular membership (no fee). Some seem afraid that their information will be abused/sold or that they will get spam; others won't really tell me what the issue is, beyond "I'm on enough social media". But this isn't social media and predates social media, I tell them; it's a website and a community. And that, I suppose, is a fading feature of the Web that some folks just don't understand because of the dominance of social media.
