Is it possible to make it so non-leaders can edit or delete their own posts on messenger boards. It can be frustrating sometimes not to be able to do so

I agree that it would be useful on occasions, so second this suggestion for consideration?

If it comes to that, leaders cannot edit their own or anyone else's posts - though they can delete them. At present, I get a (very rare) message from someone who's embarrassed over a post. On their request, I'll delete the message. But certainly I'd love to see the ability to edit one's own work.

I believe the reasoning behind it was perhaps that some players might alter a post after replies so that the replies made no sense. This was certainly a problem at one time in the forums.

The post could display an "edited" marker of course - or editing (except by leader/admin) could only be allowed before there are replies.

A block on changing after any replies could work.

Another site I frequent (not trivia related) allows posts to be edited/deleted for up to 5 minutes after they are originally submitted. This allows for corrections of typos as well as realizing you forgot to include something. It also allows you to delete the post when you realize someone else said the exact same thing but typed it in more quickly than you did.

Yes, I've seen that "five minute" system and it works well.

This is already a facility available in the FT Chain Games section, which I've used on several occasions. It really is useful when wishing to correct typos etc.

Not sure how it would work, but I would be more in favor of a "content limit" rather than a time limit, so you could go back and fix a typo days later, but you couldn't completely alter a post so that it says something else entirely.
