An excellent thing, making the Advent Calendar badge upgradable. Made playing them every year pay off!

By the way, it appears that Dec. 21 this year is missing? At least, it's not in the Thematic Fun subcategory with all the others.

I played it on the day - you can find it by scrolling back through the newest quizzes list.

I'm playing it now but it says I have finished levels 1-4 but is only giving me level 2 upgrade. Do I have to play the four I didn't do for each section to get those upgrades, or should I just continue on to level 5-7 and it'll correct itself?

Tier 1 - complete 20/24 of the calendar quizzes in 3 years. (354 players)
Tier 2 - complete 20/24 of the calendar quizzes in 4 years. (23 players)
Tier 3 - complete 20/24 of the calendar quizzes in 5 years. (13 players)
Tier 4 - complete 20/24 of the calendar quizzes in 6 years. (11 players)

The amount of years doesn't line up with the tiers because of the quantity.

I think continuing to play is what you need to do. Try leaving the challenge and going back to it. When the challenge was introduced, I'd already played enough quizzes for Tier 7 but was only advanced a tier at a time.

Just curious... why was part 8 delayed? Was there an Advent Calendar last year? (I was absent from the site during much of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, so I honestly don't know).

What do you mean by part 8? Tier 1 is 3 years completion, then it goes up a year per tier. Once 9 years have been completed, you are at the top. And yes, there was an Advent calendar last year. The relevant quizzes are all listed on the badge challenge page.

Part 8 was delayed because we had to recover the quiz IDs.

2018, 19 and 20 had never been added to the Calendar challenge before it was made tiered. The first two were quickly found due to the quiz lists you had made (one was complete, one missing the last two), but you had not made a list for 2020 due to being away and it turned out the coordination thread was also rather sketchy compared to others, referencing quizzes only by author and category instead of the full title or outright ID (of course that was well enough for us to manage the writing, but it didn't make it easier to find the right quizzes)

With that, it took us like a day or so to reconstruct the full set of quizzes. Thankfully there was a rather clear theme in that round's titles, so we could unambiguously identify everything, including the date it was for.

I had a similar issue. I *think* what happens is that the system only awards one tier at a time. And it only awards it if you return to the challenge page. I had completed 20 of the quizzes for 6 years but only had level 1. Every time I went back to the challenge page after playing another quiz in one of the years that I hadn't finished it changed my level by one, even if I hadn't completed a new year, until the levels caught up.

I started making one this year too, before it became tiered.

This is exactly right. I had earned all seven tiers earned from the start, but had to keep going to the page and claiming the next tier, one at a time. No playing necessary, unless a tier isn't complete, just repeated returns to the page and claiming.
