Allison Janney won for "West Wing'! It's her first time in the Lead Actress (Drama) category and she won (the past two years she was in Supporting Actress).

Sorry, just had to share the world my happiness

Ok, editing to announce that "West Wing" won - for the 3rd time in a row - best Drama! And everyone thought the Sopranos was going to stay on top that first time!

I'm on the West Coast, and I don't mind the "spoiler", LadyMacB! I didn't want to sit through the whole thing, anyway! I figured I'd get a good synopsis tomorrow morning! Thanks for the preview! ~Lea

I thought they were aired all at the same time? After all, it takes place on the West Coast...

Anyway, also winning was Friends for best comedy - for the first time ever.

Jennifer Aniston beat out Jane Kaczmerak (sp) for best actress in a comedy series.

Martin Sheen lost best actor in a drama, while John Spencer won best supporting in a drama.

Stockard Channing won two - best supporting actress in a drama and then best actress (?) in a mini-series for the Matthew Shepherd Story.

Both of the 'brothers' in Everybody Loves Raymond won, as did Doris Roberts for best supporting in a comedy.

The show wasn't too long - ran from 8PM - 11:15.

I meant thanks for keeping me posted as I DIDN'T want to sit through it! I actually don't watch a lot of those shows, but I'm disappointed re: Martin Sheen! I LOVE that man! About time for Friends, too.

shown at the same time??
are you kidding?

the Lady is on crack...

the show starts here at the Shrine Auditoruim at 6 pm pacific
and is usually over by about 9:30 pm pacific
that way the stars can party
I'm still looking for my emmy party invites...
east coast peeps get it at 9 pm eastern live
west coast folks get it at 8 pm on tape delay
it's pretty damn annoying if you ask me.

It started at 8PM here - so it must have started at 5PM Pacific...

I don't mean to be a pary pooper, but I was so bored watching the Emmys. I had more fun watching the E! countdown to the Emmys show. I really feal that most of the reason I was so bored was because the West Wing one so many awards. I have watched the show and just can't get into it. I wish the voters would have spread the love.

I am satisfied with all of the Comedy wins. The "Everybody Loves Raymond" wins along with the "Friends" wins.

They shared the love - Martin Sheen didn't get best actor, and they didn't get best writing or directing. See? West Wing didn't win everything
