My favorite chick flick is 'Clueless' because a lot of girls can relate to Cher about grow up in high school and worring about your grades, driving, being popular and finding the right boyfriend.

Because I can't pick just one.....
Stepmom
Steel Magnolias
First Wives Club
My Best Friend's Wedding
Fried Green Tomatoes
Beaches
Boys on the Side
I could work on the list all day, of the ones I love enough to watch over and over again. I am sure I will add more.

When Mr Knightley says "Indeed, we are not" in that tone just before they dance, I can't help but say, "Eeeeeee!" (and I rarely say that!).

My choice would have to be the BBC/A&E version of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" starring Jannifer Ehle and Colin Firth. Every now and then I call my sisters and we get together to re-watch it--this prompts much groaning from my husband who then usually makes a dash for the nearest exit. Men.....who can figure them out?

Does "What Women Want" count? I don't know if I've actually seen on in the last ten years.
Does your definition mean something that no mortal man would pay good money for, buy popcorn for, nor would he sit there for two hours to watch? I can think of a lot of those!

All of the above are pretty good, but then you've got

Notting Hill
4 Weddings and a Funeral
Ugly Coyote
Bridget Jones Diary
An Affair to Remember
Sleepless in Seattle
When Harry Met Sally
Chocolat

Gotta have a girly night soon......I'm in the mood now!

Since I'm not much of a 'chick flick' doer these are my only ones:

Fried Green Tomatoes
Practical Magic
Where The Heart Is

I loved Where The Heart Is, even though it was quite predictable. It was so cute when she took Forney's hat off for the picture and his hair poofed up!

Terms of Endearment - makes this man laugh and cry every time!

Also: Steel Magnolias
Everafter
While You Were Sleeping
Addicted To Love
Creator
I am sure there are more but those are the best that I can think of at the time.

chick flicks are basically romantic comedies.

action does not qualify...
this means that Tomb Raider is not a chick flick.

however, there are certain romantic comedies that are not chick flicks because they are so good they rise above.

Notting Hill, Pretty Woman, My Best Friend's Wedding are a few...hmmm...the Julia Roberts factor

Sleepless in Seattle is not a chick flick...it is a damn fine movie.

etc...

Steel Magnolias is a chick flick
so is Ever After...although I do kinda like it.

any old flick starring Audrey Hepburn is a chick flick.
of course that could just mean that I'm gay.

My post about Tomb Raider was meant as a joke. I only meant that because my brother likes Angelina so much HE jokingly calls it as close to a chick flick as he would get into watching......because he thinks there is a HOT chick in it. (Just a joke) I wouldn't consider any action movie to be a chick flick.

By the way, Tomb Raider is perhaps the first video game character to capture the hearts...um...well minds as well of boys as well as girls. I cannot think of any other woman character that boys would live through vicariously!
I was happy to buy the game for the kids, and as one little boy said once when asked how you recognized Lara Croft was a woman, "well she wears a bra silly."
The film wasn't quite as good as the game.

Isn't a chick flick one that a man wouldn't be caught dead watching?

Some of my favourites are:
Ghost, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Terms of Endearment, Steel Magnolias and When Harry met Sally. I don't know if this one really qualifies as a chick-flick but I LOVE The Full Monty!

Untamed Heart with Christian Slater is the only film which makes me cry EVERY time! most of the sound has gone on the video I have watched it that much! After that it's Fried Greet Tomatoes and Some Kind of Wonderful!

Although I am female, I'm not a big chick flick fan. I can agree with Emma and Fried Green Tomatoes however. Two others that I would add are "Forever Young" with Mel Gibson, and "Against All Odds" with Jeff Bridges ( I guess I could watch anything with Jeff Bridges, actually).
