Okay, anyone have any good ideas on how to treat a grease burn? By the way, dinner was delicious. Painful, but delicious.

Crest toothpaste. Good old fashioned white paste, not gel. I thought this was crazy, but found it worked. A few years ago, a coworker kept some in the office at the convenience store where we worked, in case anyone got burns from the broaster or the grease in it. One night I spilled the grease down my leg. She went running for the office to get it, and I was hurting bad enough that although I didn't see how it could possibly work, I figured anything was worth a try. It helped alot with the pain, and drew some of the heat out of the area.

Thanks for the advice Babymoo -- I'll give it a try.

You're welcome! Did you fall down in fits of laughter when you first read the post? When I was first told why there was a tube of toothpaste in the office, I laughed for days over being told it was for burns! I thought it was because she was REALLY into having clean teeth and kept it there to brush after break! That is why I asked about it, thinking it was one of her little quirks.

Isn't polysporin good, with some loose gauze, for a day or two? Then it needs to dry out in the air! I think.................Toothpaste sounds like more fun, though!

Sorry to hear about your burn

Well, cold water on it immediately for about 1 minute. (too late for that for you this time, but for future reference)

After that, aloe vera gel is the best thing you can put on it. Fresh from the plant- that stuff in the bottle is ok, but not as good as the plant. If you don't have an aloe vera, I highly recommend them! They're super easy to care for (stick it on the windowsill and water it about once every week and a half) and come in super handy in the kitchen.

Well Shadow -- how could I have forgotten my aloe plant! It's not that I don't have any plants -- I have one that is two feet across, have given away twenty or more of it's babies, and then we won't even count the babies' babies!

You are quite right -- the fresh plant is a wonder on burns. By the way, I did run cool water on it right away. And it is getting better despite myself!

I keep an homeopathic burn cream as a standby, I also keep one formulated for cuts and sores - both useful when required.
