I use XP-Pro with Outlook Express 6, and IE 6.02. I also use Yahoo Messenger v5.

My request is..

When people send me an embedded URL in Email, or Yahoo, I cannot simply click on the link to open my browser. I have to copy/paste into the address bar. It seems to be a setting in IE that is stopping it, but I can't find it.

I have tried the same thing in Hotmail and Netscape, and everything works just fine.

Can anyone assist?

Can you provide a sample?

I'm thinking it's probably a problem due to entering the URL incorrectly, on their end. You may want to try sending yourself a message with a URL in it, and see if it still happens.

shadowhippie, I tried that, with a remarkable lack of success.. the URL's are correct, but I have to right-click the address in the Email or Yahoo and copy/paste it.

Following links within IE works OK (eg, in FT), it seems to be just the external ones that won't cooperate.

Ozzz - Is IE the only browser you have on your computer? Unless IE is set up as your default browser, links in Outlook Express won't work.

Go to: 'Tools>Internet Options>Programs' and tick the box that says 'Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser'.

Maybe also go to: http://support.microsoft.com/ and type into the search box on the left of the page: q177054. There are a couple of causes listed there, one of which is above.

*Edit* The second one is down the bottom of the MS page and is a bit more involved.

Thanks, TW!
I had Netscape on my computer as well as IE. I did all the settings adjustments, and finally got it to do as it was told...
