A grotesquely anti-consumer bill drastically curtailing the rights of victims of medical malpractice recently passed the U.S. House of Representatives.
This legislative monstrosity will now come before the Senate, where the Dems hold a tiny majority, possibly soon to disappear in the upcoming elections... especially in light of Torricelli's recent bow-out in New Jersey.
I am biased in this, as the bill affects my livelihood, but everyone should take note of what's going on.
The Republicans, long known as the party of "big business", are marching to the orders of the AMA and the malpractice insurers. If the bill passes both houses, GWB, a notorious "tort deformer", is almost certain to sign the thing into law.
Anyone interested in sending this thing to its rightful place on the legislative dungheap should drop an e-mail to his or her senators. If you'd like more details, feel free to PM me and I'll be happy to fill you in.
