I can't believe what I just discovered about my "new" computer, well it's not that new, as I bought it precisly a year ago, but for me it's new!
It's a portable PC, and I just started using the arrow button below the "mousepad" to scroll up and down...
I can't believe I didn't use it before.
Guess I've used so many computers that I never gave it a thought...still using the bar at the right side.

I did use a Toshiba compact pc for four years and got used to typing without taking my fingers off the keyboard, as it has a tiny rubber ball in the middle like an eraser. (pardon me, I still can't use the British term or I'll get ribbed!)
It made the mouse pointer work...without ever lifting your fingers off the keyboard. Rapid typing ensued.

I use a French keyboard, but occasionally it'll pop over to the English keyboard..as I have both installed, however, without seeing the punctuation marks, it's a bit tough.
The French keyboard has the A up on the top row for the weak baby finger...that's a pain in the neck.

Good onya Heather, for learning something new!

Regarding your reference to Pommie terminology ... I couldn't help myself, I HAD to just say: "Yes, they are available ribbed, as well as coloured, edible, etc. (as I understand it, of course - not from personal knowledge!!!!) Hehehehe!

It's always good to discover something new about the computer that makes life easier. I remember ages ago when I first time discovered the 'Print Screen' button. I use it all the time now. It's a really useful way of copying what you see on the screen and turning it into a jpeg.

As regards scrolling, I feel lost when I have to use a mouse without a scrolling wheel on, I've just got so used to using a wheel to scroll.

I often wonder about changing to a track-ball, thinking that it might be better for preventing R.S.I. (repetitive strain injury). Anybody using one?
