Can any one help with some obscure sporty questions?

1 What sport is played with a ball, the outer surface of which is leather, rubber or synthetic, with a circumference of not less than 74.9cm and not more than 78cm?

13 In which sport was the World Cup instituted in 1970, being won by Great Britain in 1980 and 1984, and the USA in 1982 and 1986?

20 In the 2000-2001 UK football season, which was the last club to suffer defeat in a premiership?

25 Of which sport is the annual World Championship competition held on an airstrip on the edge of Kathmandu?

1- I'm only guessing with since a soccer ball is 68-70 cm that it would be a basketball.
2- ice hockey
8- they all play cricket, don't know if there's more to it

I think the answer to 1. may be Basketball ...can anyone confirm

Thanks Makebeleaffan for Q2's answer....I do believe there is more to Q8, someone suggested something like scoring first century in test matches or what ever. As I have no knowledge of cricket it is definately over my head!

dumpling,

Just had a quick look.

Don't know about Aminul Islam but surely he has done the same as this??

So it was that Dave led Zimbabwe into their first-ever Test match against India in 1992/93. This was to be a memorable occasion for Zimbabwe, who had the better of that match against India, but even more so for Dave himself, who became the first player to score a century on his Test debut when captain as well, and only the second to score a century for his country in its inaugural Test (the first being Charles Bannerman for Australia in the very first Test of all, in 1876/77). He hit a chanceless 121 from 322 balls, batting for almost seven hours, and it was an emotional moment for the home crowd when he pulled a ball through midwicket to reach his historic century.

Kindest Regards

They all scored centuries in their countries first ever test matches:

20 In the 2000-2001 UK football season, which was the last club to suffer defeat in a premiership?

on the basis a premiership means the FA Premier League aka Carling Premiership .. the last club to lose their undefeated record this season was Leicester City, when they lost 0-3 at home to Manchester United on 14-Oct-00 .. I've gone thru the results of all 20 premiership teams and am pretty confident that Leicester City is the answer you're looking for

if the words defeat in a premiership means a defeat by any UK Soccer club in the FA Premier League, Football League, Scottish Premier League, and Scottish League (and hopefully excludes Wales!) then I can't help you .. swag Fulham .. they won their first 11 games, drew their 12th and lost their 13th 0-1 on 24-Oct-00 at home to Preston North End

let us know what the answer is when the quiz results are published

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
update to above: Celtic lost their first game in the Scottish Premier League on 26-Nov-00 when they were defeated 5-1 by Rangers .. if that's not the right answer then I'm a monkey's uncle .. PaulE where are you?!
