(FYI: Just edited the previous posts as there was a word which may/may not have been offensive to some, butbest be safe than sorry!)

Anyway, I haven't seen the movie yet but my parents saw it.. They said it was pretty good, but that Madonna's song was TERRIBLE (which I agree with, it's the worst Bond song ever - even Elton John said so!) and her cameo appearance is only 2 minutes long... Other than that, my parents liked the movie.

Besides, anything with Pierce Brosnan can't be totally bad

I thought the plot in this movie made no sense, especially the character Gustaf Graves. They should have eliminated him completely from the script, and just made it Bond vs. Zao. Graves made it unneccesarily complicated and illogical. THe first half hour of the movie was good, though.

Madonna's song: F-. HORRIBLE! Ugh!

Beginning scene: F-. Completely un-Bondlike.

Invisible car: F-. Completely unbelievable. There's a fine line between "cool gadget" and "complete load of cow poo" that this trinket crossed.

Dialogue: D. Too many innuendos (and not even GOOD ones), even for a Bond movie. Still, some of them were entertaining.

Action: A. Lots of explosions and the swordfighting was really neat.

Plot: B+. A little far-fetched, but no more so than Moonraker I suppose.

Jinx: F. I've never seen a more completely useless character in a movie.

Overall: D+. The movie was pretty boring to sit through, overall, but there were some cool moments. At least I didn't fall asleep (à la Attack of the Clones).

I think I must have been watching a different movie. I agree that the invisible car was daft, I also think some of the special effects would have been better in a video game. So the plot was thin, when was the last time we had a Bond film with anything else?
On the whole, I thought was it was a worthy addition to the series, I'd put it in the top half of my Bond list.

I think GoldenEye had an excellent plot, a great car, and really cool, unique characters (who weren't completely useless). It's my favourite Bond movie, but I haven't seen all of the old ones.

I agree that it's not the worst Bond film ever made. Tomorrow Never Dies and The World Is Not Enough are competing for that distinction, in my mind.

When most people say "I don't mean to pick on you but...", they really don't mean to, but in this case I do. Here are some mistakes you made in your so called review:

1. The invisible car is only a few years away from being real. Hence, that feature was cool.

2.
In reply to:

Beginning scene: F-. Completely un-Bondlike

What the hell? How can a Bond movie have something that is un-Bondlike. If it is a James Bond movie than it is Bondlike. It doesn't matter if the movie is different to Goldfinger or Dr. No or The Spy Who Loved Me, it is always going to be Bondlike.

3. Jinx was an American agent working for FALCO, you know the actor Michael Madsen.

4. Innuendos are a part of Bond and they were good and funny.

5. Madonna's song was excellent. It had a good beat and fit well with the opening credits.

and finally....

6. WHAT THE HELL IS AN "F-". There is no such thing.

On a lighter note, Die Another Day was the best Bond movie in the series. The plot was in fact strong if anyone cared to listen. Even if anyone thought the plot was weak, just watch the action, the girls, the cars and the gadgets and enjoy.

I say that this Bond movie is 100% Bondlike and I give it "*****" (5) stars.

I, too, for one, ddn't like the beggining sequence. Bond should never get captured for 14 months in a beginning sequence. And Jinx was a terrible Bond girl. She didn't really do much, exept at the end. What kind of a name is Jinx, anyway!? I can think of a better Bond name off the top of my head:Amonda Hittenrun. Then the scene with the rocket car was really stupid. The rocket thing dangling of the edge of the cliff looks like something froim Mario Goes Fishing. In retrospect, The World is Not Enough was the only Brosnan film worse than this.

I'm desperate to know how you know the technology for an invisible car is "only a few years away". Please tell.

At least "Die Another Day" gave " XXX" competition for the most absurd story, dialogues.

The technology was described by Q. Mirors reflected what we see etc. I heard all of this on the "Die Another Day: Shaken and Stirred" program.

I honestly thought this was the worst Bond ever. (Wouldn't he hane a bit of mental as well as physical scarring after being locked up in Korea for over a year???)

Legend, I'd like to remind you that this is a friendly forum and if you have a difference of opinion -- with me or with anybody else here -- it is not OK to "pick on them". I am fully justified to have my own opinion about this movie, regardless of what you think about it.

Lastly, there's no way that mirror trick would work. Even if the car were completely covered with mirrors that were small enough to reflect light in the exact right way, there's no way the mirrors could tell the correct angle to reflect the light to make it invisible to the viewer's eye, unless these mirrors are also telepathic. And, assuming they are telepathic (which seems a ridiculous assumption to make...), there's no way they could reflect the light the right way for more than one viewer at the same time. It's physically impossible.

Legend - what LadyCait said. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

On topic, I just saw the movie and thought it was pretty good. However, tell me that in 14 months he couldn't escape? Hello? Is this the same man who the Russians never got a hold of?

And I hated the opening credits - worst I've seen!

Oh - and I LOVED Moneypenny's scenes! She was hilarious! And, as always, Judi Dench was wonderful as M. I loved the scenes in the disused subway station.

Okay, a big Bond fan here. Have 'em all including "Never Say Never Again" and "Casino Royale" unofficial Bond movies.
Die Another Day definately doesn't have the normal Bond feel to it. Change is life, you have to learn to live with it.
I loved the movie up to the parasurfing scene in the middle of the movie, from there I felt it lost credibility.
Even if 007 didn't escape in 14 months captured Bond didn't break, stiff upper lip and all that, wot.
All in all I think too many digital effects.
Still, once I'd accepted the 'new' feel, I enjoyed the movie.
Get a hold of Dr. No (the first in the series) and see how real it is.
Can't wait to see what the next one brings.
cheers
